Last week we had to say good-bye to one of our favourites. Black-betty our beautiful black headed python died of natural causes. We had her for 16 years and she was around 27 years old when we lost her. She was a friendly, affectionate girl that visited many schools and community groups with us, she was one of the few animals that survived our fire 5 years ago. We will forever miss her, fly high Black-betty.

This is the heartbreaking side of wildlife rescue. Getting a call saying an adult kangaroo is sitting by the side of the road and not moving when approached. This big old boy had been hit by a car at some stage overnight. The person that hit him must have been aware but chose not to get help. All night he lay there suffering, cold and scared. His mob nowhere to be seen and he was in enormous pain left with broken bones and bleeding. We helped this amazing creature in the only way we could. Rest easy big fellow. Unfortunately this is an almost daily occurrence, please take care on our roads and please make that phone call if you accidentally hit an animal.
