Aonika the Aldabra Giant Tortoise is turning 50, and you’re invited to her party! 🐢🎉

It wouldn’t be a proper shellebration without family and friends, so this week we sent out invite to tortoises across Australia to join in the fun, including Aonika's brother Goliath at Australia Zoo and Galapagos Tortoise, Hugo, at Australian Reptile Park.

Aonika arrived here as a little tortoise back in 1987 and 40 years later her favourite things still include soaking in her pond, shell scratches, and snacking on hibiscus flowers and sweet potato.

As the last surviving species of the 18 that once roamed the Aldabra Atoll, these gentle giants can live well past 150 - meaning Aonika is just getting started!

Drop by this Saturday to watch the golden girl munch on a watermelon birthday cake, hear from her keepers, and help us sing a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday.

Come say hi and celebrate with us this weekend. 🎂💚
