As of 6pm, there are 70 fires burning across the state, with 14 not yet contained. Over 750 firefighters and incident management team members have been working to contain these fires.

Due to hot, dry and windy conditions overnight and throughout tomorrow, several parts of the state will continue to experience high fire danger. Tomorrow, a Total Fire Ban will be in place for the Greater Sydney Region, Greater Hunter and Upper Central West Plains areas.

Due to stronger than forecast winds along the Far South Coast, Catastrophic fire danger is expected this afternoon in the region.

For your survival, avoid being in bush and grass fire risk areas today. These are the most dangerous conditions for a fire.

Some good news - the bush fire near Tathra has now been downgraded to Advice. Conditions have eased and firefighters have been working to slow the spread of the fire.
