An important safety message about heading out on the water this weekend from the team at Maritime Safety Victoria and adding our own special safety message to remind you to

Make sure you and your boat are shipshape this long weekend.
Check the weather – use Boating Vic to know the conditions for your local ramp, don’t head out in unfavourable conditions, no fish is worth risking your life.
Boating Vic – download the app or visit www.boating.vic.gov.au
Look for wind speed and direction and any forecasted changes. Keep an eye out whilst on the water for changing conditions, and use technology to your advantage, keep your phone charged and on a weather app and if you have a VHF radio, keep an ear out for updates from Marine Radio Victoria.
If the weather isn’t great, do something on land, that way you won’t get that sinking feeling.
Check the COVID-19 rules for boaters on the Better Boating Victoria website: https://betterboating.vic.gov.au/news/coronavirus-restrictions
