With wet and windy weather anticipated throughout this first week of school holidays, community members are urged to stay vigilant around their flood and storm risk, particularly if travelling away from home.

Significant rainfall is forecast across parts of the state over the coming days, which could see river rises and the potential for flash flooding in some areas.

If camping these holidays, avoid establishing your campsite underneath trees or in low-lying areas near rivers and streams, as water levels may rise quickly and without warning.

Community members can stay safe by allowing additional time when travelling, driving to the conditions and never entering floodwater.

To stay up-to-date with any warnings, download the VicEmergency app and establish a personal watch zone for your immediate area. If you require SES emergency assistance, call 132 500.

If there is someone in your house who loves a candle lit dinner (or candle lit
anything) - make sure they know how to use them safely! 🕯️

If you are planning to use fire in the home, even better to make sure you have
smoke alarms installed in any room a fire may be lit. 🔥
