When you join SES, you join a team of thousands of members across Victoria, working together with other agencies and businesses like OLEX Civil to create a safer community. A huge SES thankyou to OLEX for kindly donating a truck and 15,000 litres of water to create a life-like training scenario of a broken water main threatening to flood industrial premises and blocking storm water drains. 🧡🧡🧡

Congratulations to the 16 dedicated volunteers who achieved SES Crew Member Level 2 in Cobram recently. These members add emergency storm response capacity to SES Chiltern Unit SES Cobram Unit SES Kilmore Unit SES Myrtleford Unit SES Numurkah Unit SES Rushworth Unit Shepparton Search and Rescue Squad SES Tatura Unit and SES Yarrawonga Unit.

We also thank the amazing SES volunteers Ingo, Tim, and Graham who gave up their time to train or assess the new members, with support from SES Operations Officer Dan to deliver this crucial training in hazard assessment, response planning, sandbagging, pumping, controlled water release and asset protection.

Well done to the crew and THANK YOU very much to OLEX and the team who delivered and collected the water truck in their own time. 🧡🧡🧡

⛈ BE STORM READY ⛈

Severe storms are likely in the Hume Region (Noth East Victoria and Alpine areas) tomorrow, Sunday 12 January with heavy rainfall the main concern. This can lead to possible flash flooding, damaging winds and large hail.

‼️ It is very difficult to forecast exactly where a storm will affect an area, and what sort of damage will be done. Early preparation is the best defence against storms. ✅

🪫 🔋Charge batteries and devices in case of power outages.
💨 Tie down trampolines and outdoor furniture
🚗 Avoid travel. Go slow and never drive through floodwater.
🌲 Stay away from trees, floodways and storm drains.

☎️Call 132 500 for emergency storm assistance from Victoria State Emergency Service, or Triple Zero 000 if life threatening.
