On Sunday, 31 May 2026, SES volunteer members attended the Eastern Region Awards Ceremony, where members were recognised for their dedication and commitment through the presentation of Long Service Awards and Medals.

We are proud to acknowledge two of our own unit members who received long service recognition:

* David Wallace – 30 Years of Service
* Jayden Dalgleish – 5 Years of Service

Congratulations to David and Jayden on reaching these significant milestones. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving the community are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your service and continued contribution to our unit and the Benalla community.

W E A R O R A N G E W E D N E S D A Y

This week (May 18-24) is National Volunteer Week. The week is a celebration of the contributions of volunteers in communities all across Australia.

This year’s theme is “Your Year to Volunteer”. For more details go to

Victoria State Emergency Service contributes to the week by celebrating VicSES volunteers with the “Wear Orange Wednesday” event on Wednesday May 20th.

Benalla Unit would like to encourage local people, businesses and organisations to join in the celebration by dressing in orange on the day, or holding an orange-themed event at their workplaces, schools, etc.

Benalla SES are incredibly lucky to have the support of local businesses like James Civil Group. Last night and in future sessions we will be taking part in Urban Search and Rescue training, utilising the yards of James Civil Group our members will be able to assess hazards involved with and practice skills used to search rubble and debris.

Whilst USAR is a specialised course our members may take part in and not one a lot of our members have experienced yet, hands on training such as this provides valuable knowledge should we be called to assist on such jobs.

Benalla has a new Controller and a new look Unit Management Team. We would love to hear from you. Please drop in on a Wednesday night from 7 till 730pm or put in a EOI via the website, would love to meet you some time soon. Its great to be in Orange.

We want everyone in town to know that from Wednesday 27 May, volunteer firefighters will be responding to some types of medical emergencies in Benalla as part of the Fire Medical Response (FMR) program.

When you call Triple Zero (000) for certain medical emergencies, Benalla CFA and Ambulance Victoria paramedics may be dispatched at the same time.🚑🚒

So when you call for an ambulance, you might also get a fire truck, to ensure advanced first aid, CPR, oxygen, airway management and AED (defib) reach you as quickly as possible. ⏱️❤️
