This morning just before 6am Golden Square crews along with crews from CFA Eaglehawk Fire Brigade and Kangaroo Flat Fire Brigade were paged to support Fire Rescue Victoria station 73 to the St Killians Church fire.

Crews on scene worked hard to limit the spread from the rear of the Church whilst also removing what religious artefacts they could to prevent further damage.

Our thoughts are with the Church’s community after such a devastating fire involving their historic 138 year old building.

Golden Square crews are on scene in Lockwood at a HAZMAT incident which has blocked the Calder Alternate highway.

Please avoid the area and check the best route for your travel.

Crews from CFA, Fire Rescue Victoria, Victoria Police, Environment Protection Authority Victoria, City of Greater Bendigo and Vic roads will be on scene for some time.

Today our members are at the Fountain in town tin rattling to raise funds for our brigade.

The money we raise today will go towards new equipment, maintenance for our current equipment, vehicles and items we require for our station.

If you have time today please come down and see our members even if it’s to say hello.

We will be here until approximately 5pm today.

Any and all support we receive from members of our community is very much appreciated.

We’re 1 of over 270 Brigades who complete FEM and we’re looking to expand our operations.

Golden Square has professionally trained volunteer firefighters to install and service portable fire equipment to relevant Australian standards and building regulations for the public, business, and industry.

Local CFA Fire brigades are currently down in Rosalind park doing fire truck rides until 5pm today and tomorrow.

Come on down and have some fun and enjoy the Easter festivities
