Calling Local Employers & Business Owners

FRNSW– Dungog, the NSW State Emergency Service – Dungog Unit, and Dungog Shire Council invite local business owners, managers, and employers to attend our Emergency Services Capability & Recruitment Day.

Both emergency services are currently seeking local people who are available during normal business hours the period when recruiting and maintaining emergency response capability is most challenging.

As a local employer, you are in a unique position to make a real difference.
Many of your staff may already have the skills, experience, and personal qualities needed to serve in FRNSW or the NSW SES. By encouraging interested employees to get involved and where operationally possible, providing reasonable workplace flexibility to attend incidents or training you can directly contribute to the safety and resilience of our community.

It's also an investment in your own workforce.
Emergency service personnel receive nationally recognised training and develop valuable skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, incident management, first aid, safety, and decision-making under pressure. Those skills return to your workplace every day.

Dungog Shire Council has recently adopted a workplace policy supporting employee participation in emergency services and is committed to leading by example.
We encourage other local employers to explore how they too can support staff who choose to serve our community.

FRNSW – Dungog, NSW State Emergency Service – Dungog Unit, and Dungog Shire Council invite the community to attend our Emergency Services Capability & Recruitment Day.

Come along and meet your local emergency service personnel, see our equipment up close, and learn about the important work both organisations perform to keep the Dungog Shire safe.

The event will include:
🚒 Live operational demonstrations
🚑 Emergency vehicles and equipment displays
👨‍🚒 Meet local FRNSW and NSW SES members
💬 Information sessions and Q&A about recruitment, training, and the different roles available
🌭 Free BBQ

Both FRNSW and the NSW SES are currently seeking new members to help strengthen emergency response capability within the Dungog community.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who live or work locally and have some availability during normal business hours, as this is when both services experience the greatest challenge maintaining local response capability.

There are opportunities to suit a wide range of people and skill sets. Whether you're interested in operational response, rescue, flood operations, logistics, administration, communications, planning, or supporting your community in other ways, we'd love to talk with you.

No previous experience is necessary—both organisations provide comprehensive training and ongoing support.

This exciting event will showcase the vital work performed by emergency services across our community and provide an opportunity for locals to learn more about becoming an On-Call Firefighter or SES Volunteer.

👨‍🚒 What to expect:
✅ Meet local Firefighters, SES Volunteers and Council Emergency Management staff
✅ Learn about the rewarding opportunities available within emergency services
✅ Live Road Crash Rescue Demonstration featuring vehicle extrication techniques
✅ Rescue briefing and recruitment information session
✅ Live commentary throughout the rescue scenario
✅ Dungog SES capability display and equipment showcase
✅ BBQ and informal networking with current members

This event is being coordinated by Cassandra Sermon from FRNSW 282 Dungog and Luke Jamieson, Emergency Response Manager at Dungog Shire Council, with the aim of strengthening community engagement and encouraging more local people to become involved in emergency services.
