FRNSW 282 Dungog is proud to be partnering with Dungog Shire Council and the Dungog SES Unit to host a Community Recruitment & Engagement Day on Thursday, 9 July 2026, commencing at 10:30am at FRNSW Station 282 Dungog.

This exciting event will showcase the vital work performed by emergency services across our community and provide an opportunity for locals to learn more about becoming an On-Call Firefighter or SES Volunteer.

👨‍🚒 What to expect:
✅ Meet local Firefighters, SES Volunteers and Council Emergency Management staff
✅ Learn about the rewarding opportunities available within emergency services
✅ Live Road Crash Rescue Demonstration featuring vehicle extrication techniques
✅ Rescue briefing and recruitment information session
✅ Live commentary throughout the rescue scenario
✅ Dungog SES capability display and equipment showcase
✅ BBQ and informal networking with current members

This event is being coordinated by Cassandra Sermon from FRNSW 282 Dungog and Luke Jamieson, Emergency Response Manager at Dungog Shire Council, with the aim of strengthening community engagement and encouraging more local people to become involved in emergency services.
Whether you’re looking for a challenging and rewarding volunteer role, considering a career pathway in emergency services, or simply interested in seeing our crews in action, we encourage you to come along and see what it’s all about.

🚒Dungog Fire Station Open Day 2026🚒

On Saturday 9 May, from 10am to 2pm, Dungog Fire Station will be opening the doors, rolling out the red carpet and welcoming the community in for a day of fun, learning, and controlled firefighter mischief.

📅 Saturday 9 May
⏰ 10am – 2pm
📍 DungogFire Station

Bring the family along for a day full of:
• Fire truck displays (yes, you can press some buttons…
• Station tours
• Firefighting demonstrations
• Safety presentations
• Try on a cool helmet
• Free fun for the kids — and the adults who are big kids.

Our firefighters will be ready to chat about home fire safety, smoke alarms, and the role Fire and Rescue play within the community.

🔥 CALLING ON RESIDENTS IN THE DUNGOG AREA 🚒

We are looking for additional on-call crew to join the existing team at Dungog Fire Station to ensure it operates at its full capacity.

Are you looking for ways to do more in the community? Do you want to learn more skills and challenge yourself? All whilst getting paid?

On-Call Firefighters play a crucial role in protecting people, property and the environment and attend incidents such as fires, chemical hazards, motor vehicle accidents as well as training sessions, community safety and education activities…..and did we mention you get paid to do all this‼️

We're looking for people with some daytime availability such as shift workers, night workers, stay at home parents and people working from home.

A firefighting career is one of the most important, rewarding, and well-respected careers in our community so don’t hesitate!
