🚧 Causeway over South Creek - Closed (again) 🚧

If you’ve lived around Berkshire Park for a while, you’ll know this is one of those “old faithful” situations. After a bit of rain, the causeway over South Creek has done what it does best and is currently closed.

Please take care, don’t attempt to drive through floodwater, and allow a little extra time for your trip.

🎅 Santa has headed home for the night 🎄

That’s a wrap on this year’s Santa Run. Santa has now made his way home, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to the Berkshire Park community for your incredible generosity, patience, and support.

Seeing so many families out and about, smiling and waving, is what makes this event so special each year. Your kindness and community spirit mean the world to us.

Santa will be making his way through Berkshire Park from 4:15pm this afternoon, escorted by Berkshire Park RFB to spread some Christmas cheer before the big night.

This 24 December, Santa is coming back to town, and Berkshire Park RFB will once again be escorting him through the streets to spread some Christmas cheer before the big night.

🎄🚒 Keep an eye and an ear out in the afternoon as our fire trucks make their way around the community. We love this local tradition and cannot wait to see families out on their driveways giving Santa a big wave 👋

The members of the Berkshire Park Brigade extend our deepest condolences to the Llandilo Brigade, the Crameri family, and all who knew and worked alongside Kevin Crameri OAM.

Kevin was a friend of our brigade and a familiar face across the local community. His lifetime of community service — including 63 years with the Llandilo Brigade and his many years serving as a councillor, deputy mayor, and mayor — leaves an incredible legacy of dedication and leadership.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fellow members of the RFS during this difficult time.

This morning at 02:11 (23/10), the brigade was alerted to provide assistance to other local brigades in combating a fire at Smeeton Road.

Firefighters are currently on the scene of a bushfire situated west of Nutt Road and north of Smeeton Road in Castlereagh.

Fortunately, there is currently no threat to property. Throughout the morning, crews have endeavored to contain the fire and prevent its spread. As internal burning continues, local residents can expect to see smoke emanating from the area throughout the day.

Firefighters will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day.

Strong to gusty west to northwesterly winds coupled with hot and dry conditions will result in Extreme Fire Danger for Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, Illawarra/Shoalhaven and Upper Central West Plains fire weather districts on Wednesday.

These are dangerous fire conditions. People in the following Local Government Areas are advised to take action now;

Check your bush fire plan and ensure that your property is fire ready. If a fire starts, take immediate action. If you and your property are not prepared to the highest level, go to a safer location well before the fire impacts. Reconsider travel through bush fire risk areas tomorrow.

A Total Fire Ban will also be in force from midnight tonight.
