HSC Delivery programme; This sets out the estimated costs for providing council operating services and infrastructure. There have been discussions going on behind the scenes in preparation for the upcoming 14/4/21 HSC Council General Meeting at the HSC Chambers. Everything from footpaths, roads, cultural events, administration, libraries, community services, parks, playgrounds, sports fields, pools and indoor sports facilities and so on. Interestingly the Thornleigh Indoor Sports facility and Galston and Hornsby Pools are the only facilities expected to go close to break even or make a profit as they have done in the past. So some are asking why we don’t “have more indoor pools and sports facilities “used by about 18% of the population compared to about 25% of the population who use over 50 sports fields that cost many millions of dollars to operate and maintain? Which brings up the point below. The Berowra Pool.
Berowra Pool: It was suggested that HSC should get the Berowra Pool on the projects list as pools and indoor sports are cost effective compared to other services and facilities and there may be an opportunity to get a grant or Government assistance or levy if it’s on the projects list. It was unable to have funds allocated to it from the HSC infrastructure levy (which is still going except it is now a rate variation) because it was not on the list. The Berowra Needs Analysis showed 60% of the north east residents believed a water facility was the most needed facility with more playgrounds getting 17%. Will try to get it on the Delivery Programme. But don’t hold your breath.
