National Day of Reflection – Sunday 21 December

VRA Rescue NSW acknowledges the National Day of Reflection being held on Sunday 21 December, the final full day of Chanukah.

On this day, we stand in solidarity with Jewish Australians, remembering those who lost their lives and all who have been impacted by this tragic event.

Australians are invited to light a candle at 6:47 pm and observe a minute of silence with family, friends, or loved ones as an act of remembrance.

Flags will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect for the lives lost and in recognition of our shared grief.

This is a time to pause, reflect, and stand with our Jewish community, reaffirming that hatred and violence have no place in our society.

The horrific act of terror at Bondi Beach has shaken all of us.

On a night that members of the Jewish community gather peacefully to mark the Festival of Light. This senseless attack has taken lives, seriously injured others, and left our state, nation, and the world, in shock and grief.

Our squad members extend their condolences to those who have lost loved ones and to all who have been impacted.

Tonight saw the Binalong VRA pull the finger kit out for some training. It was good to refresh our skills on different scenarios where fingers are involved, including ring removal, releasing fingers from drains and removing a full hand stuck in a teapot. We were able to use the dremel tool, a piece of string and general tools to complete these extractions.

It's great to practice these skills that may be required at anytime.

Today is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

We pause to honour every life lost or forever changed on our roads. Behind each statistic is a family, a story, and a community impacted.

VRA Rescue NSW responds to some of the most challenging road incidents across the state. Our volunteers see firsthand the devastating consequences of road trauma and it’s why we remain committed to prevention, education, and supporting our communities when the unthinkable happens.

Today, we remember the victims.
We acknowledge the families and loved ones who carry the loss.
And we recognise our fellow first responders and emergency service workers who continue to serve with courage and compassion.

Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone.
