🚒 Official Handover of Appliance 51 🚒

On Friday 6 February, we were proud to officially receive the keys to our new Appliance 51 at the Bli Bli & District Rural Fire Brigade station.

We were honoured to have local Dan Purdie MP attend the handover and present the keys to our brigade. This new appliance will greatly enhance our capability to protect our community and support our firefighters in the field.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making this possible, and to our community for your continued support. Especially the White's IGA for their ongoing support.

Due to worsening fire conditions, current permits will be suspended from 0001hrs Saturday 25th - 2359hrs Monday 27th. No new permits will be issued, until suspension has been lifted.

Massive thank you to Snake Catcher Dan for coming out so quickly last night to move on this Brown Tree Snake that was keeping warm by our battery chargers.

It definitely brought some excitement to our bi-monthly meeting!

Next Saturday, the 11th of October, Sunshine Coast Council along side the Queensland Fire & Biodiversity Consortium will be hosting a Backing onto Bush workshop in Yandina.

Backing Onto Bush workshops are a half-day session for peri-urban and rural residential landholders to learn about fire ecology and what keeps the bush healthy.

Our brigade along with others from the area will be taking part in our annual group exercise tomorow.

Please be aware there will be additional people and trucks around the Mapleton area while this is being conducted.

Heads up, Mapleton! 🚒🔥

Tomorrow, the Rural Fire Service Queensland will be in town for a major training exercise. You’ll see lots of fire trucks and crews working around Mapleton State School and Mapleton Forest for the day.

Please take care on local roads, give way to emergency vehicles, and thanks to our amazing volunteers for keeping our community safe.

Today we had the honour of seeing four of our firefighters recognised in front of family, friends, and colleagues for their incredible work during the 2019–2020 fire season.

Nigel, Stephen, Brent, and Kevin were each awarded the National Emergency Medal—a special recognition for those who’ve gone above and beyond during nationally significant emergencies.

Huge congratulations to all four of you! We’re proud to have you on the team.

Thanks again Maria and Jenny. Craig,Steve,Harry and myself working for a better outcome for our local Brigades after the rushed and ill planned changes by QFD.

Discussing the collection and distribution of the Rural Fire Service Levy with QLD Fire Department officers Joel and Andrew, Rural Fire Branch officers and Cr Jenny Broderick - Division 1 SCC

The change of structure resulted in the change of how funds are distributed. Looking for solutions so transparency and accountability can be maintained, while avoiding unnecessary red tape and restriction of access to funds when brigades need them quickly.

Gaining understanding of the new system and its challenges and offering advocacy support if legislation is part of the problem that is tying the process up.
