π¬οΈ GALE FORCE WINDS LIKELY TO BRING DOWN TREES AND POWERLINES

Gale force wind gusts as a result of Tropical Cyclone Alfred are expected later today (March 2) and overnight across the Sunshine Coast coastline and hinterland.
Council is urging the community to stay away from, and report, fallen trees and downed power lines.
β οΈ How to report fallen trees and powerlines
β’ Report fallen trees on Council roads or parks. For urgent and hazardous situations please phone 5475 7272. You can also report via the Sunshine Coast App (free from the App Store or Google Play).
β’ For trees on main roads (such as Sunshine Motorway, Nicklin Way, Caloundra Rd and the Bruce Highway), contact the Department of Transport and Main Roads (Queensland) on 13 19 40.
β’ If you see fallen power lines, stay clear and call Energex immediately on 13 19 62.
β’ Contact Energex if you have lost power on 13 62 62.

π¨ Sandbags now available at Caloundra
SES has opened up two public pick-up point for sandbags:
β’ At their Caloundra Depot, Ulm Street South, Caloundra.
β’ Lighthouse Rugby Club in Caloundra located at Lighthouse Park - 81 Arthur Street, Caloundra.
You can collect them or you can fill sandbags yourself. Sandbags are a simple and effective way to help reduce the impact of flooding and protect your property.
β Environmental Centres will temporarily close
Due to the predicted wind impacts of TC Alfred, a number of Council-owned venues will close from tomorrow (Monday 3 March 2025) until further notice, including:
β’ Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
β’ Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens
β’ Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary
β’ Sugar Bag Recreation Parkβs mountain bike trails
π How is TC Alfred tracking?
TC Alfred has been moving southwards and weakening and is forecast to turn southeast tonight, moving further away from the Queensland coast while weakening further.
By Tuesday, it is expected to slow down and turn westward, moving back towards the southern Queensland coast.
