With appreciation to the Maffra & District Historical Society we were able to swap our heavy display cabinet at the Boisdale Hall for this beautiful cabinet which originally came from the Maffra Library.

It looks very much at home in the hall and we were able to set it up with clothing from the 1910's from our archive collection to complement the wedding that was held at the hall last weekend.

VALE:
Farewell to our wonderful Kath Amey at 103 years of age!
Kath had a very full life, born and bred in Boisdale, the last of the eight Amey children of Jessie and Will Amey to pass away.
She attended school locally before heading to the Epworth in Richmond to complete her nursing training, followed by midwifery and Infant Welfare Training.
She worked and back- packed through Europe in the 1950's, was Matron of the Maffra & District Hospital for five years and an Infant Welfare Nurse in Sale for over twenty years supporting parents and their babies.
Following retirement she was involved with the family farm and local organisations including the Boisdale-Briagolong Red Cross Group (30 years service), local History Group and Garden Clubs.
Our sympathy to niece Maxine and all the Amey familiy.
We will miss her wise counsel. RIP Kath.

Kath's funeral will be on Monday 12th Jan. at 11am at Semmen's Chapel in Foster St., Maffra.

Please be aware of predicted conditions tomorrow and enact your emergency plan if needed. Stay tuned to ABC radio and the Emergency services website.

Tomorrow, Friday 9 January has been declared a day of TOTAL FIRE BAN for the whole state. Our area will be under an EXTREME Fire Danger Rating.

Temperatures will reach up to 42 degrees and dry thunderstorms are likely later in the day, with damaging winds possible.

Under these conditions, any fire ignition will develop rapidly and if driven by strong winds will be difficult to control.

Strong winds can also bring down trees that could block escape routes so it’s not a good time to be in or near the bush and forest areas.

What’s your plan?
What is your trigger to leave early?
Where will you go and what will you take with you?

TAKE ACTION - PREPARE NOW

Stay informed with the VicEmergency app and website, local radio stations and your trusted local sources of information.

Plan ahead and stay safe.
