A little reminder that Salt Store is here for you.

We're open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm at 5-19 Birriley Street (Salt Base), Bomaderry. For a gold coin donation, you can receive a hamper filled with food and groceries to take home.

On Thursdays, our clothing store next door at Bomaderry Community Centre is also open with clothes, shoes and more. And our volunteers will be serving morning tea under the big tree, so come and stay a while.

If times have been financially heavy, please know you are welcome. No questions asked.

To donate food, clothing or essential goods, drop them to us at Salt Base in Bomaderry during office hours and our team will take it from there. Every contribution goes directly back into the community.

Autumn mornings at Sassafras. 🍂

The mist settling over the orchard, golden leaves underfoot, the quiet before the day begins.

We feel so lucky to call this place ours.

That's a wrap on another beautiful season of Sassafras flowers! 🌸

What a joy it has been growing, harvesting and sharing these blooms with our community. Thank you to everyone who picked up a bunch, supported our stalls or simply stopped to admire them along the way.

Already counting down to Waratah season in October.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the quiet ones.

A familiar face walking through the door. A conversation over a cup of tea. Someone trying something new for the first time and surprising themselves. A small step that nobody else might notice, but that means everything to the person taking it.

This is the work we get to do every day at Salt Care. Not always loud or visible, but always real. Always rooted in the belief that every person deserves to be seen, supported and given the chance to find their way forward.

We are so grateful to be part of this community and so proud of the people in it.

Last month at the Salt AOD Wellbeing Program has been one of the most meaningful yet.

With harvest in full swing at Sassafras, participants had the opportunity to see the farm come alive and take part in something bigger. For people in recovery, that kind of community connection is not just a nice thing to have - it's part of the healing.

When addiction takes hold, relationships and community often slip away. Rebuilding those bonds can feel overwhelming. But watching participants step into the rhythm of the farm, embrace the people around them, and allow themselves to belong again has been genuinely inspiring.

Last month's sessions focused on connection in recovery, the power of the past, and unlearning negative self-beliefs. These conversations opened the door to real vulnerability and moments of genuine insight. The group continues to grow in strength, and the change we are witnessing is real.

We believe deeply in this: the opposite of addiction is connection. Community gives people a place to stand, a place to heal, and a place to grow. Recovery is not a path walked alone.

We are grateful to COORDINARE for their continued support in making this program possible, and to every participant who shows up and does the hard, courageous work of change.

This week is National Volunteer Week, and we want to take a moment to say something we can never say enough.

Thank you.

To the volunteers who show up at Salt Store week after week, packing hampers and stocking shelves. To those who give their evenings to Safe Shelter, making sure our guests have a warm meal and a kind face to come home to. To the incredible people who work alongside us at Sassafras, in the orchard, the flower garden and the farm shop. And to everyone who has ever given their time, their skills or simply their presence to be part of what Salt does in this community.

You make it possible. All of it.

Volunteering is one of those things that has a way of giving back just as much as it gives. Connection, purpose, community. If you've ever thought about getting involved, we'd love to hear from you. Simply send us an email at [email protected] and we'll find a place that fits.

Happy National Volunteer Week to every single one of you.

There are more people doing it tough in the Shoalhaven than most of us realise. And for many of them, a little bit of support at the right moment can change everything.

That's what the I Said Yes campaign is all about. It's a simple invitation to say yes to helping a local in need, whether that's through a small regular donation or giving a little of your time as a volunteer.

From as little as $10 a week, the cost of two cups of coffee, you can help Salt Care continue providing emergency shelter, food relief, housing support and so much more to people right here in our community.

If you're in a position to help, we would love for you to say yes. Visit https://www.isaidyes.org.au/ to find out more.

Did you know that Salt Care is an official Work and Development Order (WDO) sponsor?

If you're struggling with unpaid fines, a WDO means you can reduce your debt by volunteering with us or participating in our AOD program, rather than paying cash. Volunteering reduces your debt by $30 per hour, and engaging with our AOD program can clear up to $1,000 per month. Once you start, Revenue NSW can also lift enforcement actions like licence suspensions.

It's a practical pathway forward, and we're here to help you find one that works for you.

Get in touch with our team to find out more at [email protected].

Did you know that Salt Care has two community stores in Bomaderry?

The Salt Store is a place where anyone in our community can access affordable groceries, fresh produce and clothing, with dignity and without judgement. It runs entirely on the generosity of donations from local businesses, food rescue organisations and individuals who care about their neighbours.

And just around the corner, our second-hand bookshop is a little treasure trove of pre-loved books, all priced to be accessible and with every sale going directly back into the work of Salt Care.

Whether you'd like to shop, donate goods, or simply spread the word, every little bit helps us keep these doors open for the people who need them.

Get in touch at [email protected] to find out more about donating to the Salt Store or bookshop.
