This year Lily, One of the firefighters at STN230 has taken up the challenge to do .

This challenge is hard, but not as hard as MND which is a progressive, terminal neurological disease. It affects the nerve cells (neurones) controlling the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breathe and swallow, causing them to degenerate and die.

began with Firies climbing the Sydney Tower to raise awareness and funds for MND. This year, she is taking up the challenge of the Furber Stairs in the Blue Mountains to continue this legacy, and support the incredible work done at the MND Research Centre at Macquarie University.

Every donation is a step towards a world without MND.

🚨‼️Fire and Rescue NSW & our Communication Centres are aware of potential Triple Zero (000) issues due to a Network Outage.

In an emergency - call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Your mobile phone will attempt to connect to any available network. If you are able to call Triple Zero (000) & connect we are able to respond

If your phone shows ‘SOS only’, you may still be able to call Triple Zero (000).

If your call does not connect straight away, or is taking a long time:

• Stay on the line to keep your place in the call queue.
• If you can, also try:
o Another mobile phone that uses a different network.
o A landline phone or payphone.
• If you’re connected to Wi-Fi, make sure Wi-Fi calling is enabled.
• Check your phone isn’t on airplane mode.
• Restart your device.

🚒❤️ Thank a First Responder Day — Bombala 230

What an awesome day out with our community! The crew from Bombala Fire Station 230 visited two local schools today alongside our mates from NSW Police and NSW Ambulance — and what a blast it was! 🚓🚑

Seeing the kids’ faces light up around the trucks made every second worth it. Days like today remind us exactly why we do what we do.

To every student, teacher and school who welcomed us through the gates today — thank you. Your support means the world to our volunteer retained crew. 🙏

And to our colleagues in blue and green — always a pleasure working alongside you. First responders are stronger together. 💙💚❤️

Be smart and take part — press the test button on your smoke alarm right now.

✅ Alarm should sound loudly
✅ Replace batteries if it beeps intermittently
✅ Replace the unit if it’s more than 10 years old
✅ Every level of your home needs at least one alarm

Tonight, crews from FRNSW Bombala 230 responded to reports of an “unknown fire” with concerns that structures may have been involved.

Thankfully, on arrival, crews located a pile burn outside of the declared fire district, with no structures impacted. The incident was then handed over to the RFS.

While this incident turned out to be non-threatening, we’d like to remind the community of the importance of working smoke alarms in every home.

FRNSW offers free home fire safety visits, including smoke alarm checks and home fire safety advice, free of charge.

If you would like to book a visit, simply send us a message through our page.

Today, crews from FRNSW Bombala 230 responded to an unauthorised pile burn within the declared fire district.

On arrival, residents were advised the fire needed to be extinguished, and they promptly complied and put the burn out.

Crews then ensured the area was safe and checked for any remaining hotspots.

This is a timely reminder to the community that permits are required for all burning activities year-round within the FRNSW fire district.

Everyone must have a valid permit before lighting any fire. If you are planning to burn, please contact your local Fire and Rescue NSW station to obtain the correct permit and advice.

These requirements are in place to help protect lives, property, and the environment, and to ensure emergency services are aware of planned burns should conditions change.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out before burning if you’re unsure.

Today, the crews at 🚒 FRNSW Bombala 230 would like to wish all the mums, grandmothers, step mums and mother figures in our community a very happy Mother’s Day. ❤️

Thank you for everything you do — the quiet support, the late nights, the early mornings and the endless care you give to your families and communities every single day.

A special thank you also goes to the mums within our emergency services family and to the families behind our firefighters, who support us every time the pager sounds and we head out the door.

We hope today is filled with love, laughter and time spent with the people who matter most.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at FRNSW Bombala 230 🌹

🚒🔥 What a day at FRNSW Bombala 230 Open Day! 🔥🚒

Today we opened our doors to the community and showed just a small glimpse into the world of firefighting.

From filling the station with smoke for our TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) demonstrations, to getting hands-on with fire hose demonstrations and hydraulic rescue gear, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

One of the highlights was showing just how precise our rescue equipment can be — even carrying an egg with the super spreader!
🥚🚒

We fired up the BBQ, met so many amazing locals, and even had entertainment from our very own in-house DJ Acting Deputy Captain Derek Metuangaro 🎶🔥 “DJ Drekz” 🔥🎶

A massive thank you to everyone who came down, supported the station, asked questions, and spent the day with us. Community days like this remind us why we love serving Bombala and surrounding areas.

We hope everyone had as much fun as we did — see you again next year! 👨‍🚒
