🌟 National Volunteer Week 🌟

This year’s theme, “Your Year to Volunteer”, is a reminder that every volunteer makes a difference — whether it’s giving a few hours or many years of service to their community.

Today we would like to thank all of our dedicated brigade members who volunteer their time to protect and support our community. From responding to emergencies and attending training, to fundraising, community engagement and supporting one another behind the scenes — none of it would be possible without our volunteers. 🚒

We also extend our thanks to every volunteer across our community and beyond. Volunteers are the backbone of so many organisations, and their generosity, commitment and willingness to help others makes our communities stronger every day.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, maybe this is your year to volunteer. ❤️

Thank you to all volunteers for everything you do. 👏

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

Today we recognise and thank all the amazing mums, grandmothers, step mums and mother figures within our brigade and community.

Whether they’re responding to incidents, supporting behind the scenes, volunteering their time, or keeping the home fires burning while others answer the call, the contribution of our mums is truly invaluable.

Thank you for everything you do — your strength, support and dedication never go unnoticed.

From all of us at Bonny Hills Brigade, we wish you a safe and happy Mother’s Day ❤️

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the strength, dedication and compassion of mums everywhere, but especially those in our family.

Across the state, thousands of mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, stepmothers and aunties give their time to help protect their communities. Whether they're on the frontline or supporting behind the scenes their contributions are extraordinary.

Today, we thank them for all they do, not just as RFS members, but as leaders and role models in our brigades and communities.

🔥 Meet Our Newest Crew Leaders 🔥

Congratulations to Steve and Amelia on successfully completing their Crew Leader qualification! 👏

Between February and April, Steve and Amelia dedicated 5 full weekends, along with additional work back at station, committing more than 60 hours of training to achieve this important milestone. The qualification covers leading crews at both wildfire and village incidents, ensuring they can lead safely and effectively during emergency operations.

This qualification is a significant step within the NSW RFS and reflects the dedication, leadership and commitment required to take on greater responsibility within the brigade. Crew Leaders play a vital role in coordinating crews on the fireground, ensuring safety, communication and effective incident response.

It’s fantastic to see members stepping up into leadership roles and continuing to strengthen the future capability of our brigade and community.

Well done Steve and Amelia — a huge achievement that you should both be very proud of! 🚒👏

Today our hearts are heavy with the tragic news that two Marine Rescue NSW volunteers lost their lives while responding to a distress call off the coast of Ballina last night.

Our thoughts are with their families, friends, and fellow volunteers, along with the entire Marine Rescue community as they navigate this devastating loss.

A big well done to our two newest members, Amanda and Nick, who have both successfully passed their Fire Fighter 1 and Fire Fighter 2 assessments today! 🔥🚒

This is the entry-level qualification required to respond to incidents, marking a major milestone in their RFS journey.

We’re proud to have you both on the team and look forward to seeing you continue to build your skills and experience within the brigade.

Today, members of Bonny Hills RFS Brigade attended the Laurieton ANZAC Day Service to stand alongside our community in remembering and honouring the service and sacrifice of our veterans, past and present.

ANZAC Day is a time for reflection, gratitude, and respect — values that continue to resonate strongly within our brigade.

Lest we forget.

You are required to notify NSW RFS and your neighbours 24hrs before you light up. Recent days and weeks have seen multiple burns escape, putting properties and lives at risk right across the mid coast.
