The wild weather over the past few weeks may be common for this time of year, but these storms still take many of us by surprise with the damage they cause! ⛈

Throughout January, SES volunteers responded to more than 600 requests for assistance.

One of the most common requests was for leaking roofs. Like most storm damage, this one is largely preventable by cleaning out your gutters and checking your roof for any cracked or loose tiles.

Thank you for everyone who has shared, we couldn't have done it without you!
We have located the vehicle in Murgon and it's in the process of being forensically investigated.

We are still on the look out for approx 9 chainsaws amongst other equipment all have serial numbers.

If anyone in the Wondai or Murgon areas have CCTV or dash cam could you please check them for anything that might be of interest late Friday onwards.

Earlier:
Both Wondai and Murgon SES have been broken into.
A Toyota Troop Carrier (similar to the image) along with Stihl chainsaws and equipment were stolen last night from Wondai SES
Chainsaws and equipment have also been stolen from Murgon SES

Looking for a new year’s resolution?

Why not prepare your home for storm and cyclone season! There are plenty of ways you can use your holiday down-time to minimise the impact of wild weather on your home.

🌳 Trim trees and overhanging branches (but be aware of overhead powerlines).
💦 Clear those gutters! Full gutters can cause rainwater to back up into eaves, causing leaks and putting strain on your roof.
🏠 Check your roof for damage like cracked or lifted tiles, rusted nails and sheets of loose tin that could lift off in strong winds.
💻 Ensure your home, contents and car insurance are up-to-date and accurate.
