Tawny class has been working hard all term towards their learning goals. They have been mastering how to form letters, building counting and grouping skills, and bringing stories to life through role play.
Friday adventures are always a weekly highlight, where they get to explore and connect with the world around them. There is so much fun and learning happening everyday in Tawny, and we are so proud of all the amazing efforts our students are making!

This week, the Five Islands School community joins the nation in recognising National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June). We acknowledge the history, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and we are committed to building respectful relationships and understanding together.

Our students and staff are engaging in activities and conversations that encourage us to learn, reflect, and take positive steps towards reconciliation.

This term, Pelican class have been exploring measurement through the language of tall and short.

Students have engaged in a range of sensory experiences and hands-on activities using informal measuring units and art-based tasks to develop their understanding of size, height, and comparison. Through practical exploration, students have been encouraged to use descriptive language, make observations, and compare objects and people within meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

Well done, Pelican class!

In collaboration with TAFE NSW, Five Islands senior students had the opportunity to visit the Central Coast Wildlife Park.

Their team of animal handlers showed us their day-to-day work and supported us to explore the park.

Here are some highlights!

Five Islands School warmly welcomed all mothers and mother figures for a special Mother’s Day celebration. Our mums enjoyed a delicious morning tea and cherished quality time with their children. We are truly grateful for the love and care that mothers and mother figures provide, nurturing the students of Five Islands School each and every day.

A few weeks ago, Five Islands students were lucky enough to receive a visit from Police Youth Liaison Officer Elke and Constable Jason from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command.

We were able to try on a uniform, get our fingerprints taken, and sit in the special police car, Sergeant Jim!

Happy Mother's Day to all the special women in our students lives. 💐 We hope they let you have a sleep in. ❤
