🚒 Training Day – Overall Fuel Load Assessments 🌿

Today, members from East Booral Rural Fire Brigade, alongside other local brigades, spent the morning in the training room learning about Overall Fuel Load Assessments and the correct methods for conducting them.

After the theory component, we headed out into the field on a beautiful Booral day to put our training into practice on a local property. Using a moisture meter, we conducted three fuel moisture assessments, recording ground fuel moisture content readings of 108.5%, 49.9%, and 29.6% along with our Overall Fuel Load.

These assessments play an important role in helping us understand local fuel conditions and better prepare for future fire seasons.

A great day of learning, teamwork, and practical experience was topped off with a well-earned BBQ lunch.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the day a success. It was fantastic to see such strong participation and commitment to ongoing training and community safety.

🔥🚒 Well done to all involved!

East Booral had the pleasure of joining one of our local primary schools for U/8’s Day.

The kids had a wonderful morning meeting both our rural and urban crews, checking out the trucks, learning about fire safety, and having a great time with the firefighters. 🚒🔥

A big thank you to the school for having us along and to all the students for their excitement and great questions throughout the morning.

We love being part of our local community and helping educate the next generation. 👨🏽‍🚒👩🏻‍🚒

East Booral Rural Fire Brigade 🚒

Alongside many other brigades, we’re proud to support our neighbouring crews—near and far—helping provide some well-earned downtime during the fire season for the local crews, we head out on strike teams to assist.

This is where our commitment to training and maintaining our skills truly comes into action, especially in challenging conditions.

This video was taken at the end of last year, where our members relived local crews to assisted property owners to contain a fire and prevent further loss of valuable grassland for stock feed.

A great example of teamwork, preparation, and community support in action. 🔥

Today, the members of East Booral Rural Fire Brigade pause to honour and remember the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of our ANZACs.

On this Anzac Day, we pay our deepest respects to all those who have served, and continue to serve, our country. Their legacy of mateship, resilience, and dedication lives on in the communities we proudly protect.

Lest we forget. 🌺

This week, East Booral members joined Nikenbah and Dundowran brigades for a great session on pump operations, working through Case 1 and Case 3 hose line drills.

It was a great night for newer members to build confidence, develop their skills, and gain valuable hands-on experience.

Training together like this keeps us ready to respond.

When the members of East Booral Rural Fire Brigade aren’t responding to fire calls, conducting hazard reduction burns, or assisting with flood clean-up, we’re still hard at work behind the scenes.

Every month, our brigade trains to keep our skills sharp and our team ready. We also regularly join forces with the Hervey Bay Group — nine brigades from Howard through to Fraser Island — to train together, strengthen teamwork, and ensure we can respond as one when it matters most.

But what we do isn’t just about trucks and training — it’s about our community.

Every hour we spend training is about protecting our neighbours, supporting our region, and being there when you need us most. We’re proud to serve East Booral and the wider Fraser Coast, and we thank our community for your ongoing support.

Because together, we’re stronger, safer, and always ready. 🚒🔥
