So many good things are happening in our Neuro Awesome community 💛
Our events and groups are growing gently, naturally, and in exactly the way we hoped — with real people finding real connection at their own pace.
💛 Our Peer Support Group has received beautiful feedback from parents, carers and supporters who are finding comfort in being around people who understand. The connections that we have been able to make through that group have also allowed us to work on one of our secondary missions in supporting the Autistic Employment ecosystem - stay tuned for more updates on this!!
🎾 Tennis Hangz was a hit — people got outside, moved, laughed, played, watched, rested and connected without the pressure of forced small talk. (We are taking more tennis racket donations, too)
🎶 Music Hangz is coming up on 19 July — a relaxed, low-pressure space to listen, play, tap along, sing, create, take breaks or simply enjoy being around music. We have sourced
> comfy beanbags,
> our very own music teacher who plays in the Sea Shanties,
> a local legend and muso (we borrowed from the orchestra), to come and jam with us &
> We've had some incredible donations of music stands and instruments to facilitate a truly wonderful music Hang!
👧 Junior Hangz is also in the works — starting thoughtfully with K–2 and growing slowly, with safety, structure and accessibility at the centre. We have started our search for educators to run our STEAM workshops for homeschool and mainstream students who need a safe and supportive environment to flourish and thrive with others who are also looking to find their tribe and their place to belong.
Both Liz Stokes & Caro Jimenez have been busy collecting donations and sourcing equipment and resources to make this a wonderful, sustainable program for our children and youth right up to teens/ under 18's because we know there is a need.

We’re also working with council on a Neuro Drivers workshop — we'll have more details soon. At this point, we are looking at early July, but watch this space!
