Whitehorse SES attended this incident this afternoon supporting Victoria Police

INCIDENT - EastLink closed

The outbound lanes of EastLink are closed between Springvale Road and the Ringwood Bypass, due to an emergency services incident.
Significant delays are expected through the afternoon peak as emergency services conduct investigations.
Please follow the direction of emergency services and detour via Springvale Road and the Maroondah Highway to Ringwood to reach EastLink.
Consider using Whitehorse Road or Doncaster Road to avoid congestion on the Eastern Freeway.
EastLink will re-open only when investigations are complete and it is safe to do so.

Punching above our weight at Whitehorse SES.
For the normally higher risk weather season between October and April Victoria State Emergency Service had a total of 18,354 requests for assistance !!! Of which your Whitehorse SES volunteers responded to 528 requests - making us the busiest in the state !!!! (again). Thanks team for all your efforts to support our communities.

⏰ Daylight saving ends tomorrow, Sunday 5 April. Don’t forget to put your clocks back one hour!
While you’re adjusting your clocks, take a minute to check your smoke alarms – it could save your life. 🔔

✔ Test your smoke alarms monthly
✔ Change replaceable batteries every year
✔ Replace alarms every 10 years (from installation date)
✔ Make sure alarms are installed between bedrooms and living areas (ideally in every bedroom and living space)

🚨 Operational Update – Alternative Response Vehicle Deployed 🚨

Due to the ongoing fuel crisis, SES Whitehorse Unit has officially rolled out our newest emergency response platform — the KangaRapid 1.

✔ Excellent off-road performance
✔ Exceptional fuel efficiency
✔ Built-in jump suspension
✔ Environmentally friendly transport

While it may be slightly less comfortable than our usual fleet, our volunteers remain ready to respond to the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year… just with a little extra bounce today.

Rest assured, no matter the transport method, our team is always here to help keep the community safe.

Our New unit funded General Rescue 2 truck arrived yesterday Community Bank Blackburn South was on hand and we are grateful for their support to help fit it out.
