2026/2027 Fees and Charges

The Shire of Boyup Brook’s 2026/2027 Fees and Charges have now been adopted and are available to view on the Shire website.

A few things to note for the year ahead:
• Swimming Pool & Gym – Great news! Fees have not increased this year, helping to keep these facilities affordable for our community.
• Transfer Station – A new fee for the disposal of furniture will come into effect from Tuesday, 1 September 2026. Please check the Fees and Charges on the Shire website for further details.
• Rural Tip Passes – Rural Tip Passes are also now available for collection from the Shire Administration Office.

Rates Notices Arriving Soon

Keep an eye on your letterbox or inbox, 2026/27 Shire of Boyup Brook rates notices will begin arriving shortly.

Along with your rates notice, you’ll receive some important information to keep handy throughout the year:
• Budget and Rates Flyer – helping you understand your rates and where your rates go.
• Emergency Services at Work Flyer – DFES Emergency Services Levy (ESL).
• Emergency Information & Bushfire Control Leaflet – information regarding burning times, firebreaks, Brigade contacts and general emergency information.
• Annual Fire-break and Hazard Reduction Notice – outlining your responsibilities and important requirements for the coming bushfire season.

Paying by instalments? The first instalment is due 1 October 2026.
We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to read through the information included with their rates notice and keep the emergency and bushfire information somewhere handy for future reference.

Medical Services Governance Committee
We are seeking two community representatives to provide strategic guidance and governance to help support the long-term sustainability of the Boyup Brook Medical Service.

Step up from firefighter to crew supervisor! The Crew Leader (CL) course prepares you to take charge of crew safety and truck tactics during emergency operations.

2026/27 Budget – Investing in Our Community

Council has adopted the 2026/27 Annual Budget, with a strong focus on maintaining essential services and investing in the infrastructure our community relies on.

🌿 More than $8 million invested in our Shire

This year Council will deliver a substantial capital works program, including:

$6.026m – Roads, bridges, community buildings, maintenance
$1.9m – Medical Centre
$868,000 - Sport, parks and gardens
$419,000 - Swimming pool and gym
$558,000 - Waste Management
$295,000 - Fire Prevention

This investment will help maintain and improve the roads, facilities and infrastructure that support our community, local businesses and agricultural sector.

🌿 Making ratepayer dollars go further

Rates are only 37% part of the funding picture. Council has worked to maximise other funding and revenue sources to deliver more for the community.

The Shire will also use $1.18 million in previously secured borrowings for the Evacuation Centre, with no new borrowings proposed this year.

🌿 Why are rates increasing?

The cost of maintaining the Shire’s extensive road network, buildings, infrastructure and community facilities continues to increase.

Additional rate revenue helps Council maintain these assets, continue essential services and provide the local contribution needed to attract external funding for projects.

For a small community with a large asset network, maintaining what we already have is just as important as building something new.

🌿 The benefit to our community

The 2026/27 Budget is about investing locally in better roads, maintained community facilities, improved infrastructure and continued delivery of the services residents rely on.

By combining rates, grants, reserves and previously secured funding, Council can deliver a much larger program of works than could be achieved through rates alone.

Our focus is simple: invest in what our community needs, maintain what we have, and ensure Boyup Brook remains a strong and sustainable community into the future.

Take your firefighting skills to the next level! ABF bridges the gap between basic firefighting and leadership, giving you advanced knowledge of complex fire behaviour and strategic tactics.

📍 Where: Boyup Brook VFRS (35 Abel St, Boyup Brook)
📅 When: Monday, 24 August 2026 @ 9:00 AM

Prerequisites:
✅ Bushfire Safety Awareness (BFSA)
✅ Firefighting Skills (FFS)
✅ 12–24 months of operational fireground experience

Why Take This Course?
• It’s the technical prerequisite for Crew Leader and Sector Commander roles.
• Strongly recommended for senior volunteers and members pursuing Fire Control Officer (FCO) pathways.
