Why take water safety into libraries?

Because water-safety education shouldn't only happen beside a swimming pool.

Children encounter water at home, at grandparents' houses, at the beach, on holidays and around dams and waterways. Libraries give us another way to reach families in places they already know and trust.

Through our partnership with Australian Library and Information Association Spring Safe Storytime brings simple water-safety messages into storytime — using books, pictures, conversations and repetition to help children understand how to stay safe around water.

Sometimes an important conversation can start with something as simple as reading a story together.
