Located at 10 Sorell Street, Bridgewater, the Shed is more than just a place for woodworking – it’s a space where community members connect, create and contribute. Born from a simple but powerful idea in 2001, the Jordan River Community Shed was created by Bill Griffiths and his mate Pete Cousens as a place where young unemployed locals could learn basic handyman and woodcraft skills—building conf
idence, self-esteem, and even job prospects. Thanks to the support of Council, businesses, and the local community, that vision became reality. The Shed welcomes community members from all walks of life, including men, women, school groups, disability and aged care programs, and everyone in between! Run entirely by dedicated volunteers, we’re open to everyone—regardless of age, background, or skill level. Whether you want to learn, create, or just connect, you’re always welcome here. We also take on custom woodwork to help keep the Shed running.
