Brindabella members have been busy over the last 2 weeks.
The weekend 8-10th march we undertook a hazard reduction burn
It was a successful HR and we extend our thanks to the crews from neighbouring brigades and Parks and Wildlife who came out to assist on Saturday.
Also a shout out to the 2 helicopters from True North with incendiaries and bucket to help the ground crews.

This weekend we held a TFT (trim fallen trees) course, with 9 members completing their recertification and another 6 who now have the qualification.
Thanks to Scott, Brian, Graham and Mark for taking on the essential instructor roles.

To those behind the scenes over the last 2 weeks who planned, catered, helped with comms, equipment checks and clean up- you are amazing and thank you

📸 credit to those who shared the photos used here, there are too many to list.

Brindabella RFS members had a training day yesterday consisting of recon drive and some drills.
This was followed by a community BBQ held by the brigade.
Thanks to everyone who helped out in the weeks leading up to the event and on the day -especially our cook Ben, organisers Sue, Judy and Lisa, and to Justin for chairs and rubbish removal.
It was great to see everyone on the day.
A special thank you to Elite meats and Woolworths-Westfield Woden for your generous donations.

Today marks the official start of the bush fire season, with the Bush Fire Danger Period beginning in most NSW Local Government Areas.

If you’re planning on conducting a burn on your property, you’ll require a fire permit from your local Fire Control Centre or brigade. Fire Permits help ensure fire is used safely and minimise the danger to you, your property and the community.

Welcome!

Riverina Highlands is made up of one Local Government Area, Snowy Valleys Council (formally Tumut and Tumbarumba). The District is administered in Tumut, at the Fire Control Centre located in the Riverina Highlands Building, 76 Capper Street Tumut.

The District is made up of twenty eight brigades, including Brindabella. Brigades range from from Gocup in the north near Tumut to Bringenbrong in the south near Khancoban and includes a Cadet Brigade. The Brigades are made up entirely of volunteers who give up their time to train, maintain equipment and most importantly protect their communities from the ravages of fire.
