Smoke alarms, unlike wine, do not age well over time.

Did you know that most smoke alarms have a use-by date? Some modern smoke alarms have a life-span of up to ten years and may not have a battery to change, making it easy to forget how long since they’ve been installed.

Remember to regularly clean and test your alarms, and check the use-by date to help keep track of their age.

As we move into the colder months, fire agencies often see an increase in house fires as residents use their fireplaces and heaters to stay warm.

Remember, you won’t smell smoke while you are asleep, so make sure your bleeping smoke alarms are working.

A working smoke alarm can save your life and give you and your family valuable time to escape a burning home.

When he turns 16, he will be able to respond to firecalls.

In the meantime, Ollie will continue with his training before he can jump onto our fire truck.

Today is St Florian's Day, also known as International Firefighters' Day.

It is a day to recognise and thank firefighters for their bravery and commitment to safeguarding our communities.

To our own Brigade members, and to every member of the NSW RFS and fellow Fire Fighting Agencies across the state and beyond—we say thank you.

Your dedication to protecting lives, property, and the environment, no matter the conditions, is deeply appreciated.

As lithium-ion batteries become more common in everyday devices, it is important to understand the fire risk. These batteries can overheat and catch fire if they are damaged, overcharged, used with the wrong charger, or not used as intended. To reduce the risk, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, use approved charging equipment, and charge on a hard, non-flammable surface. Do not charge batteries while you are asleep, away from home, or near doorways and exits. If a battery or device becomes hot, swells, leaks, smells unusual, or shows any sign of damage, stop using it immediately and seek advice from the manufacturer or supplier.

Today we stand together to honour the bravery, sacrifice and enduring spirit of the men and women who have served.

On ANZAC Day, Bringelly Rural Fire Brigade members remember those who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Their courage, mateship and commitment to others continue to inspire our own service to community.

Lest We Forget. 🌺

You may see and smell smoke from hazard reduction work being undertaken across the State, including parts of Greater Sydney.
Smoke is likely to accumulate near burn sites and settle overnight in parts.

Fire agencies and land managers will continue to use current favourable conditions over coming days to implement this important work to protect communities.
Please only call Triple Zero (000) if you see an unattended fire, not just if you smell smoke.

A list and map of planned hazard reduction burns is available on the RFS website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/HR and you can be alerted to burns taking place by setting a Watch Zone in the Hazards Near Me app.
