Rehabilitation meets resilience 🛠️

Through a partnership with Queensland Corrective Services, low-security prisoners are rolling up their sleeves to help Queensland communities get ready and bounce back following disasters.

From sandbagging ahead of a cyclone to cleaning up after a flood, these work camps show up for our SES and rural fire brigades exactly when they need extra hands.

It's community service that builds skill and contributes to resilience. Everyone wins!

Bushfire embers can travel kilometres ahead of a fire front, and they don't need much to catch. A gutter full of leaves, twigs or other debris is one of the easiest ways for embers to ignite your roof.

Strengthening your home against bushfire means looking beyond a quick clean. Clearing gutters and downpipes regularly is a good start, but for real resilience, consider upgrading to non-combustible gutters and gutter guards, and check for debris build-up along ridge lines, valleys and roof penetrations too.

🏠 Does your roof need some love before the cyclone season rolls around again?

What's holding your roof down from underneath matters just as much as what's on top. Ask your roofer about:

✅️ Replacing rusted or worn roof sheeting and screws
✅️ Swapping out split or damaged battens
✅️ Upgrading batten-to-roof frame connections from nails to screws or straps
✅️ Strengthening roof-to-wall connections with straps or bolts, not just nails

These upgrades help your roof stay put when cyclone-force winds hit.
