"24/7 support" is one of the most misread phrases in a SIL listing. 🏠

It does mean someone is always there. It doesn't always mean someone is awake.

An active night shift means a worker is up and available. A sleepover means a worker sleeps on site and wakes if you need them.

Both are legitimate. But if you or your family member needs overnight repositioning, medication or seizure monitoring, that difference is everything.

It's International Assistance Dog Week (2 to 8 August).

That dog in the harness at the shops isn't out for a walk. It's working. It might be alerting to a seizure, retrieving dropped items, opening doors, or simply being the reason its handler felt able to leave the house today.

The kindest thing you can do is the simplest one. Don't pat, don't call, don't distract. Say hello to the person instead. 💛

Plan management type is one of the most under-explained parts of the NDIS, and it quietly narrows a participant's provider pool before the conversation even starts.

NDIA-managed participants can only access registered providers. Plan-managed and self-managed participants have a wider field but carry more responsibility for vetting.

Bharosa Community Services is registered and audited by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, so we can support participants across all three management types in Queensland and Tasmania.
