Pregnancy cravings are incredibly common, but they’re not always as simple as your body being deficient in a specific nutrient.

Research suggests cravings may be influenced by a combination of hormones, changes in taste and smell, increased energy needs, emotions, memories and even food availability.

While most cravings are completely normal, persistent cravings for non-food items such as ice, dirt or clay should be discussed with your healthcare provider.

The goal isn’t perfection during pregnancy. Focus on nourishing yourself with regular meals, staying hydrated and eating a variety of foods where possible. 🤍

Motherhood really changes your definition of a “good night’s sleep.” 😂

Before kids, anything less than 8 hours felt impossible.

Now? Four uninterrupted hours and I feel like a brand new person.

Tell me I’m not alone…👇

How many hours of uninterrupted sleep would make you feel human again?

Motherhood isn’t always one thing.

You can feel immense love for your baby and still miss parts of your old life.

You can feel grateful and overwhelmed.

Joyful and exhausted.

Confident one day and questioning everything the next.

Two things can be true at once. 🤍

C is for Cracked Ni***es 🤍

Cracked ni***es are one of the most common breastfeeding challenges new mums experience.

While some ni**le tenderness can occur in the first days after birth, cracked, blistered or bleeding ni***es often suggest that something needs further assessment.

Common causes include:
✔️ Shallow latch
✔️ Positioning difficulties
✔️ Oral restrictions such as tongue tie
✔️ Pumping issues
✔️ Skin irritation

Helpful strategies may include:
• Reviewing baby’s latch and positioning
• Applying a few drops of expressed breast milk after feeds
• Avoiding soap on the ni***es
• Allowing ni***es to air dry where possible
• Seeking support early from a lactation consultant or breastfeeding professional

The good news? Many breastfeeding challenges improve significantly once the underlying cause is identified.

Did cracked ni***es catch you by surprise during your feeding journey? 👇

Feeling bloated all the time?

While bloating can have many causes, your gut microbiome may play a role.

Prebiotics are the foods that feed beneficial gut bacteria, while probiotics are the beneficial bacteria themselves.

Aiming to include a variety of fibre-rich foods alongside fermented foods (if tolerated) can help support overall digestive health.

Remember, bloating isn’t always caused by a lack of probiotics. Factors such as stress, constipation, hormonal changes, food intolerances and underlying digestive conditions can also contribute.

Which of these foods do you already eat regularly? 👇

Sometimes the body works best when it feels safest.

Oxytocin plays an important role in labour, breastfeeding and early bonding. It’s often influenced by factors such as comfort, privacy, support and feeling emotionally safe.

That’s why the environment around a mother matters.

Whether you’re preparing for birth, feeding your baby, or navigating the early postpartum weeks, creating a space where you feel supported can make a meaningful difference.

🤍 Save this for a reminder that support matters too.

Most mothers don’t expect this in the first days after birth.

The “baby blues” can show up around day 2–5 postpartum — as hormones shift rapidly after delivery. It can look like sudden tears, feeling overwhelmed, or emotional ups and downs that don’t always make sense.

It is very common. It is temporary. And it is not a reflection of how you are coping as a mother.

For most women, it settles within about two weeks.

But if it feels intense, heavy, or continues beyond that — support is important.

You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to reach out.
