In October 2026, the Australian Government is launching AusAlert, a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It’s a fast and reliable way to help communities like yours be informed and better prepared during local and national emergencies.

It’s just one of the many ways the Australian Government and state and territory emergency services organisations are helping to keep Australians safer.

Stay connected.
▶️ Get to know your neighbours and prepare your properties together.
▶️ Check in on vulnerable locals and help them make a plan if they need.
▶️ Build support networks before a disaster happens.

Not all heroes wear capes, some ride skateboards! 🛹🦸‍♂️

Chiggy's Skateboarding in Coolum has been offering the Sunshine Coast community a safe, supportive, and fun environment for skateboarders of all ages and abilities since 2013.

The company uses an 'adaptive frame' that helps kids like three-year-old Larry Hibbar stay on their feet while learning tricks.

We love this! But don’t expect to see us doing ollies any time soon.

Do you know of any local businesses or people breaking down barriers and doing extraordinary things? Tag them below. 👇

🎉 Join us in celebrating Athol Alcorn! 💜

At 94 years young, Athol has been nominated for the Queensland Volunteer of the Year Award. For nearly a decade, Athol has been a dedicated volunteer at Hummingbird House, raising over $35,000 through endurance challenges such as walking the Kokoda Track at 87 and completing a 300-kilometre charity walk at 90.

Despite being legally blind, Athol continues to volunteer two days a week, travelling by public transport to care for the Hummingbird House hospice gardens and outdoor spaces.

Thank you, Athol, for your unwavering dedication and kindness. You are an inspiration to us all! 💛 If you’re inspired by Athol’s story and want to make a difference, find out more about volunteering here: 👉 https://volunteeringqld.org.au/

Celebrate QLD Day on 6 June 2026!

It’s a day of state pride — our chance to celebrate the unique people, places, and things that make Queensland what it is today.

QLD Day commemorates the historic moment on 6 June 1859 when our great state started to chart its own course away from NSW by becoming an independent colony.

This QLD Day we’re shouting out the best of our state.

From burgers to beaches, cafes to campsites, vote for your favourite across 15 categories — bakeries, butchers, hairdressers, florists, camping spots and more.

🌐 For more information or to vote, visit 👉 https://qldday.initiatives.qld.gov.au/
