Today in the Senior Toddler Room, we celebrated World Ocean Day 2026 and explored this year's theme, "Reimagine: Beyond the world we know, a new relationship with our ocean."

During the group discussion, the children shared their ideas about the ocean. When asked, "What colour do you think the ocean is?" they confidently responded with blue and green. The children also talked about what they might see in the ocean, excitedly naming whales, water, fish and sand. Some children made connections to familiar animals such as tigers and elephants, demonstrating their growing ability to link new concepts with prior knowledge.

Following the discussion, the children used blue and green paint to create their own ocean artworks. Through this creative experience, they explored colour, expressed their ideas visually, and engaged in meaningful conversations about the natural world.

Learning Outcomes: The children developed their communication skills, shared ideas with peers, used their imagination, and expressed their understanding through creative art experiences.

Stage of Origin 2026
Today in the Senior Toddler Room, the children were excited to share which team their family supports. The educators encouraged the children to look at the team pictures and tell us about their family’s favourite team by pointing or saying, “this one.” This helped the children build connections between home and their learning environment while developing communication skills and confidence in expressing their choices.

To extend the experience, the educators created a fun beanbag tossing game using two recycling boxes with different team signs. The children were encouraged to choose their favourite team and throw a beanbag into the matching box. The children showed great enthusiasm, enjoyed making choices, and participated happily with their peers.

This experience supported the children’s sense of belonging, decision-making skills, and social interactions. We wish both teams the very best of luck for tonight’s game!

During Road Safety Week, the Senior Toddler educators collaborated to create engaging small-world experiences for the children to explore and discover. The learning environments included roads, roundabouts, crossings, car parks, and traffic signs using toy vehicles and loose parts to encourage imaginative play and conversations about staying safe on the road.

The children showed great interest as they moved the vehicles around the different road setups, practised stopping and going, and explored how to safely use crossings and follow road signs. These experiences supported the children’s social development as they shared resources, took turns, and worked together during play.

To extend the learning, the children also participated in a creative collage activity, making their own traffic lights. They carefully selected colours, glued the pieces into place, and discussed what each light meant. This hands-on activity supported the children’s fine motor skills, colour recognition, and early understanding of sequencing, while reinforcing important road safety messages.

Through play, creativity, and collaborative learning experiences, the children developed a growing awareness of road safety and how traffic lights and road rules help keep everyone safe in the community.
