Military Working Dogs play a vital role in supporting operations, making it essential that health personnel are prepared to provide timely and effective care when they’re injured or unwell.

As part of ongoing training, members of 2 HB worked in conjunction with the 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment to practice the process of receiving, assessing and managing a Military Working Dog through the Role 2 Enhanced Field Hospital, earlier this year during Ex Viper Walk. These realistic scenarios allowed personnel to rehearse patient reception, safe handling of a Military Working Dog, clinical workflow, and multidisciplinary coordination in a controlled environment, ensuring the team is ready to integrate veterinary support into deployed health operations 🏥 🐕

It’s that time of the year when many of our members deploy to participate in our major field exercise. Over this period our members may have limited or no access to phones, internet and other communication methods due to the nature of training and operational requirements.

On 21 June, our team proudly represented 2 HB at the Veteran Games, demonstrating determination, teamwork, resilience and the enduring spirit of service. 💪🏼👏

The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the veteran community, promote health and wellbeing, and celebrate the achievements of those who have served our nation. We are incredibly proud of every team member who participated and embodied the values of mateship, courage and commitment throughout the day.

Clinicians from 2 HB recently participated in a Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course, reinforcing the skills required to deliver life-saving care in challenging operational environments. Through realistic scenarios, participants practised haemorrhage control, airway management, casualty movement and tactical decision making, ensuring they remain ready to provide effective care at the point of injury whenever and wherever it’s needed.
