UQ Greens

UQ Greens We are a student-run club for supporters of the Queensland Greens. The UQ Greens stand for progressive politics and social and environmental justice.

We promote student political engagement through events like social meetups, protests, on-campus stalls and political forums. We differentiate ourselves from other activist and environmental groups on campus by connecting students directly with Greens campaigns in inner Brisbane. Many of our members have doorknocked or flyered their local area for the Greens in the most recent election, so our soci

al events are the perfect opportunity to meet passionate, like-minded people and to find out what volunteering for the Greens is really like. Membership is $2 for the year and you can sign up at https://uqgreens.getqpay.com/ or come say hi at Market Day!

The system is rigged. House prices and rents are soaring, the cost of living is out of control, and the major parties have sold out everyday people to big corporations and billionaires.

But there’s enough wealth in this country for everyone to have everything they need to live a good life. We just have to fight for it.

Come hear from Greens leader Larissa Waters, movement leader Max Chandler-Mather, and a host of experienced campaigners. Learn about the big ideas that can transform society and gain the tools to make a difference.

Tickets are $10 and going fast. Head to the link in bio to get yours now!

THIS STUDENT ELECTION, VOTE FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT

The UQ Greens are supporting The Progressives for UQ Union because they're fighting for meaningful transparency and real affordability.

The Progressives aren't afraid to disclose any affiliations, but that's not standard.

Our union is occupied by major party careerists trying to use the union, trying to use students for their own gain. Together (the LNP) and Community (Labor) would rather play politics than provide meaningful change for students.

They'd rather use our $8,000,000 in student fees for their own exclusive boat parties and then make lives easier for students doing it tough.

So this election, we are fighting for change. Progressives are fighting to release an itemised budget, cut union outlet prices, and make a fighting union.

So, if you have any time to help out on election week next week, please sign up to fight for a union that works for us, not behind our back.

Vote 1 Progressive

❗️❗️UQ GREENS RALLY❗️❗️

STUDENTS ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF!

We are in a cost of living crisis, and students are getting hit harder than ever.

Between ridiculous Hecs debts, grocery prices, and just the cost of studying at the university- student life has become unaffordable.

This is the result of our institutions, on and off campus, prioritising profit over people.

Students deserve better, so we are going to do something about it!

💚 12pm, The Great Court, October 8th. 💚

Join us to demand better, because if we want change, we've gotta fight for it.

THIS FRIDAY @ REDROOM: BROKE AND WOKE 🫵 Politics in the Pub: Why Uni is so Unaffordable - RSVP at the link in our bio!

‼️ If you've got this highest HECS Debt at this event, we'll grab you a burger, on us! ‼️

Now more than ever, having a financially secure time at uni seems more and more out of reach. From rising food costs, to fees that don't seem to go anywhere (and don't even get us started on HECS), you'll be forgiven for thinking that this system is rigged against you - because it is.

So what can we do about it? How can we impact real, meaningful change to make the lives of our student body easier?

Join us this Friday, 6pm for BROKE AND WOKE! @ REDROOM to yap about these very real questions with very real answers, hosted by the #1 club woke club on campus. We'll also buy you a free burger (we're not allowed to say beer) if you have the highest HECS debt!

Join the UQ Greens for our first event of the year!
This is your chance to meet like-minded students on campus, hear from Stephen Bates MP and Senator Larissa Waters, and get involved in our winning Greens movement. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided!

We’re on a mission to get billionaires and big corporations out of politics. Did you know 1 in 3 big Australian corporations pays no tax? Something is deeply wrong when a uni student is paying more in HECS than huge multinational corporations like Chevron and Santos pay in tax - the same big companies that donate millions to Labor and the Libs.

Join us on Tuesday, 4th March for our event to find out how we can fight billionaires and win.
