A youth foyer is proposed for Rockhampton, with 40 self-contained units for young people aged 16-25 facing housing insecurity who are committed to engaging in education, training or employment!

Following our successful youth foyers in Logan, the Gold Coast and Townsville, we’re delivering eight more youth foyers across the state. We recently announced youth foyers for Brisbane, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. The construction of a new youth foyer is already underway in Cairns, and designs are being developed for Moreton Bay and Hervey Bay.

Youth foyers help young people develop the skills they need to lead independent and productive lives. With 24/7 onsite support, they learn how to manage a rental property while working or studying. This helps young tenants transition into mainstream accommodation so they can get a great start for their future.

“I just feel at home now.”

After 28 years, Jane downsized to smaller social housing unit once all her children had moved out. The idea of moving was scary at first, but now Jane’s loving the light and community at her new unit.

We’re helping social housing tenants like Jane downsize so we can free up larger homes for larger families.

Some tenants have extra bedrooms in their homes that they don’t need later in life. When a tenant wants to downsize, we’re ready to help them find a home that suits their needs now.

We want to free up larger homes for larger families, but finding someone a new home (even if it’s smaller) can take time.

We’re building more 1- and 2-bedroom homes for older Queenslanders, and if you’re on the housing register, your Housing team will let you know when a place becomes available.
