πŸ’š Walk for Autism Update πŸ’š

Throughout May, our wonderful staff, students and families stepped up to support our Walk for Autism campaign, and what an incredible effort it has been!

We originally set ourselves a goal of raising $1500, and thanks to the generosity and support of our amazing school community, we smashed it, raising an incredible $1755! πŸŽ‰

Collectively, our team also walked over 2,300,000 steps throughout the month. That is a whole lot of walking, moving and making a difference!

A huge thank you to our staff and parents for supporting this campaign, whether it was through donations, sharing the fundraiser, encouraging our walkers, or joining in with steps along the way.

We are so proud of what our school community has achieved together. πŸ’š

Our first Skipping Club session kicked off this morning, and what a fantastic start it was! πŸ’›πŸ’š

It was wonderful to see students giving it a go, practising new skills, encouraging each other, and having fun while getting active for Jump Rope for Heart.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us bright and early. We can’t wait to see those skipping skills grow each week!

Skipping Club will continue on Thursday mornings from 8:10am in the hall. πŸͺ’✨

Let’s keep jumping, SCSS!

πŸ’™β€οΈ State of Origin Spirit! β€οΈπŸ’™

There was plenty of team pride on show today as our students came dressed in their State of Origin colours.

Whether they were cheering for Queensland or New South Wales, it was wonderful to see so many students joining in the fun and celebrating in a positive, respectful way.

A big thank you to our families for helping students get into the Origin spirit!

Who will take the win? πŸ‰

❀️ Jump Rope for Heart kicks off today! ❀️

We’re excited to get our students skipping, moving and raising funds for a wonderful cause.

Parent and Guardian Guides were distributed on Friday, but we know school bags can sometimes become mysterious paper-eating caves! If your guide didn’t make it home, you can still register your child here:

Mrs Baxter will also be running weekly skipping club on Thursday mornings from 8:10am in the hall for students who would like to come along and practise their skipping skills.

Let’s get those ropes swinging, hearts pumping and feet flying!

As a proud school community, we care about ourselves and others. That’s why we’re excited to be part of Jump Rope for Heart 2021. Jump Rope has been getting little Aussies active and raising funds to fight heart disease for 35 years.

Week 5 PBL Focus – Recognising Escalation & Making Safe Choices

This week in PBL, students have been learning how to recognise when a problem is starting to get bigger and what they can do to keep themselves and others safe.

Across the school, students explicitly explored:

recognising signs of frustration in themselves and others
noticing warning signs that a situation may be escalating
using calm and safe replacement behaviours
asking for help appropriately
keeping hands and feet to themselves during conflict or disagreement
These lessons help students develop important self-regulation and problem-solving skills that support positive relationships and calm learning environments.

A big thank you to PY for sharing this week’s fantastic learning artefact with our school community! 🌟

Together, we continue to build safe, respectful and successful classrooms for all students.
