Thank you West Brisbane News for acknowledging the wonderful students and staff from Mt St Michael's College and Marist College Ashgrove and the dedicated local environmental community group, Save Our Waterways Now. We are extremely grateful for the tremendous effort they put in to w**ding, planting and mulching our gardens at Ashgrove Meals on Wheels. Their hard work has made such a positive difference to our gardens and our surrounds.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to help us — we truly appreciate your support of Ashgrove Meals on Wheels and the wonderful community spirit you have shown.

A local environmental organisation and two Ashgrove schools have come together to give the gardens at Ashgrove Meals on Wheels a fresh start.

Today, as we mark National Meals on Wheels Day, we are reflecting on something truly extraordinary. For seventy years, this has never just been about dropping off a plate of food. It has always been about presence. It’s about the familiar knock at the door, the shared stories, the gentle reassurance that someone is looking out for you, and the profound human connection that turns a house into a home.

None of this legacy happens by accident. It is built entirely on community love.

Today, we are wrapping our arms around the people who have carried this mission forward with unwavering grace: the volunteers who show up rain, hail, or shine with a smile; the teams behind the scenes pouring their hearts into every detail; and a community that treats one another like family. You are the hands, the feet, and the beating heart of everything we do.

✨ Thank you for seventy years of looking after Queenslanders. We wouldn't be who we are without you, and we are just getting started.

Ashgrove Meals on Wheels is extremely grateful to the fantastic students and staff from Mt St Michael's College and Marist College Ashgrove, who, together with Janet Mangan from Save Our Waterways Now (SOWN), descended on our centre today to w**d, plant and mulch our gardens.

SOWN is a local community organisation dedicated to protecting and restoring our waterways, bushland and native habitats in the local area, so it was wonderful to have Janet sharing her knowledge and helping our students with their gardening and environmental work. 🌱

Thanks to everyone's hard work, enthusiasm and teamwork, our gardens have been given a fantastic makeover!

A massive thank you to Woolworths Ashgrove for generously providing the supplies for our sausage sizzle, and to Bunnings Warehouse Australia, Keperra for their generous donation of plants. 🌼
