Still beaming from Thursday’s National Reconciliation Week event! !
Thank you to every single person who showed up — whether in the room at Everton Park Library or joining us via Teams. Your presence made it special.
This was truly a shared learning experience for us and Play Matters, and we’re so grateful to have learned alongside such engaged and thoughtful people.
A shoutout to Figjam & Co — Jabob Davidson, your Native Bushfoods Workshop was an absolute highlight. The wisdom, culture, and connection you brought into that space were something we won't forget. Thank you for sharing your knowledge so generously.
And to Tammy Wallace, thank you for opening our hearts and minds through the Reflective Yarning Circle.
This is what reconciliation looks like in action. 💛❤️🖤 💚🖤🤍💙

Did you know? The first 1,000 days of a baby's life shape how their brain develops, including how they manage emotions for the rest of their life. Infant mental health isn't about babies being 'stressed.' It's about the magic and hard work of creating connection. You don't have to be a perfect parent. You just have to show up. Share this with a new parent in your life — they need to hear it.

There's a reason kids come back from the park calmer. Research shows that time in nature reduces anxiety, improves focus, builds resilience, and supports emotional regulation in children. And also in adults!
A stick. A puddle. A hill to roll down. Nature doesn't need a program.
This World Environment Day (5 June), we're celebrating the simplest, most powerful thing you can do for your child's mental health: go outside together, have some grounding moments and learn how to better care for our environment. Even 20 minutes in a green space makes a difference. If you saw this post, it’s your reminder to go on a nature walk this week.

We were privileged to hear from Robyn, a proud Aboriginal woman with connections to Budjiti and Mardigan Country, who shared her experiences, insights and the important work she and her team do to embed cultural practices into frontline services every day.
It was a valuable and meaningful conversation that created a safe space for staff to listen, ask questions, deepen their understanding, and learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and perspectives.
These opportunities to come together, share stories and learn from one another help strengthen our commitment to reconciliation and creating culturally safe environments for children, young people and families.
Thank you, Robyn, for sharing your knowledge, experiences and wisdom with us.

This Queensland Philanthropy Week (1–5 June), we're taking a moment to say thank you. Every donation, every partnership, every volunteer hour, every act of kindness, it doesn’t go unnoticed.
It shows up in a child who feels safer. A family that makes it through a tough week.
To all those who give their support, commitment and generosity to Act for Kids: thank you. You are the reason this work is possible.

As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close, we reflect on what reconciliation means at Act for Kids and Youthrive.
This year's theme, "All In", truly resonates with the work we do every day. Being "all in" means more than a commitment—it means taking action to ensure our Reconciliation Action Plan is lived and experienced by our staff, children, young people and families.
For us, reconciliation means ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people have access to culturally safe support, that community voices help shape the solutions, and that we play our part in closing the gap in child wellbeing.
While National Reconciliation Week ends today, our commitment continues all year round. We are proud of the work happening across Act for Kids and Youthrive and grateful to our staff, whose dedication helps turn our commitment into meaningful action every day.
