Drive Me Crazy by Lizzy Dent

I have never read a Formula 1 romance before but I really enjoyed this one! It was such a fun, quick read.

The story follows Chloe who has just become one of the first female team principals of a struggling F1 team. She is determined to make to team a success and prove her worth in this male dominated field.

Matt is a driver who was at the top of his game, but after some bad performances is dropped by his team. He is also Chloe’s childhood crush, who gets picked up by her teams owner.

Needless to say, things get heated with old feelings arising and sparks flying! As well as the romance being a little bit forbidden…

Anyway, it was a lot of fun, with some steamy secret hookups and our girl coming into her own! A great entertaining read.

Click by Sarah Bailey

I had the pleasure of going to a book launch for Click and listening to Sarah speak about this book, so I was very excited to get into it.

This is an example of a great Aussie Thriller. Set in Melbourne, the story is told from the POV of Oli, a journalist with her own podcast, and Pen, a rookie detective, as they investigate a series of missing and murdered women.

It leans into the dark side of social media, clickbait, and how people a caught up with the news. There are a lot of twists and it was great to read about two very different but strong female characters.

It was also good to revisit Oli’s character from Sarah’s previous book The Housemate (which I also loved). I hope to see more of Oli in the future!

If you love a good Aussie Crime Thriller, definitely check this one out!

The Wall Within by Laura Morris

The Wall Within was such an interesting YA dystopian read with plenty of heart, mystery, and hope.

Set in an alternate Australia divided by war and separated by a Wall, it follows sixteen-year-old Tess as she struggles to survive after losing her parents and living with a cruel aunt. A mysterious new boy, Raze, arrives and she starts receiving strange messages from her late parents. Tess is forced to question everything she thought she knew about her world as both her and Raze begin discovering they both possess unusual powers they can’t fully explain.

I really enjoyed watching Tess grow from someone trapped by fear into a determined, courageous young woman. I loved the blend of dystopian adventure, supernatural elements, friendship, and slow-building romance. The world was unique, with an alternate-history Australia, and the story carried an underlying message about resilience, hope, and finding strength within yourself.

The only thing that left me a little unsure was the ending. I’m not sure if this is the first book in a series, but it definitely felt like the story didn’t end, with plenty of unanswered questions and room for more. It wasn’t enough to stop me enjoying the book, but I would have loved a little more closure.

Overall, this was an interesting story, and if there is another book planned, I’d definitely be interested to see where Tess and Raze’s journey goes next. If you enjoy YA dystopian fiction with strong female characters, hidden powers, mystery, dystopian worlds, and plenty of emotional moments, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a read.

Woman, Missing by Sherryl Clark

Woman, Missing is a fast-paced Australian crime thriller. I really enjoyed following Lou Alcott, a former police officer turned private investigator, as she tackled two missing women cases, while also dealing with her family’s criminal connections.

I loved how the story balanced multiple investigations without feeling confusing, and the focus on domestic violence and vulnerable women felt very topical. The twists kept me guessing, and while a couple of plot points wrapped up a little too neatly, it was still a really engaging read. I look forward to reading more stories about Lou.

If you love Australian crime fiction, strong female leads, and mysteries with lots of twists, I’d definitely recommend picking this one up!

Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden

I have long been an admirer of Freida’s books and this one did not disappoint!

At first Debbie seems like your typical mum. She has two teenage girls who she has an interesting relationship with, she loves her garden, and she writes an advice column.

Unfortunately, things take a turn - and so does Debbie! With one thing after another going wrong, Debbie decides it’s time for justice on those that have done her wrong. By the end of the story she is completely unhinged, but you can’t help wanting her to get exactly what she wants.

There are lots of dark twists and turns you don’t see coming, and the excerpts from her advice column throughout made my day! A perfect domestic thriller with morally grey characters, lots of secrets and plenty of revenge. Definitely one I would recommend.

Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke

Yesteryear was such an intriguing read. This is definitely one of those books that makes you stop and think, even after you’ve turned the final page.

Natalie Heller Mills appears to have the perfect “tradwife” life online - the beautiful farmhouse, the picture-perfect family, and millions of followers watching her carefully curated version of happiness. But behind the scenes, things are far from perfect. When Natalie suddenly finds herself living a version of the past she has been romanticising, she’s forced to confront the reality behind the image she has created.

Natalie was such a fascinating character. She’s definitely flawed and not always easy to like, but she was impossible to look away from. It contains dark humour, social commentary, and explores themes of identity, motherhood, ambition, social media, and the pressure to present a “perfect” life.

While I did enjoy this one, it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. I think I was expecting to be completely blown away, and although I appreciated the unique premise and the conversations it sparked, some parts felt a little uneven. That said, it was still a clever, thought-provoking read with plenty to discuss, and I can definitely see why it has generated so much buzz.

If you enjoy literary fiction with a satirical edge, unreliable characters, and stories that make you question what’s real versus what’s curated, this one is worth adding to your TBR.

Sawyer by Jessica Peterson

Sawyer is such a sweet, emotional, and swoony addition to the Lucky River Ranch series. I loved being back in this charming small-town world filled with cowboy brothers, found families, and characters you can’t help but love. 🤠❤️

Sawyer and Ava meet during a girls’ weekend, which ends in a hot night neither of them will forget 🔥🔥 They soon discover they’ll be seeing a lot more of each other in Lucky River when Ava lands her dream job coaching Barrel Racing at a nearby ranch. Both are single parents trying to build new lives with their little girls.

Sawyer is the ultimate green flag single dad. He’s protective, caring, patient, and completely devoted. Ava is strong and extremely independent. I just loved their two daughters together! They were absolutely adorable, and watching their friendship grow added such a sweet layer to the story. The way they blended their families together felt was so heartwarming.

The audiobook narration by Stephen Dexter and Lila Winters was fantastic and brought these characters to life. Jessica Peterson has created such an addictive cowboy romance series filled with lovable characters, and I’m having the best time exploring Lucky River Ranch.

Perfect for fans of single dad romance, second chances, small-town romance, cowboy romance, found family, and spicy heartfelt love stories. 🤎

Puppy Love by Evie Mitchell

Puppy Love was a cute, quick and spicy little romance gave me plenty of smiles. 🐶💕

This story follows Kat, a photographer visiting her aunt, and Hayden Dogg, the local vet who is trying to raise money for animals but definitely needs some help. What starts as a not so pleasant situation, quickly turns into something much hotter when these two are forced to spend time together creating a charity calendar.

I loved the opposites attract dynamic between Kat and Hayden. Hayden had those sweet, caring hero vibes, and I enjoyed seeing the softer side beneath Kat’s initial prickly attitude. Their chemistry was fun, with plenty of banter, tension and some very steamy moments. The adorable animals added to the charm and gave this a fun small-town romance feel.

For me, the short length meant I didn’t connect with the characters as deeply as I would have liked, and some of the instalove felt a little rushed. But if you’re looking for a quick, low-angst romance with a hot vet, cute puppies, quirky characters and plenty of spice, this is an easy little escape read.

Kiss The Boy is such a sweet and fun reimagining of The Little Mermaid 🧜‍♀️

Erica is in a horrible relationship with a controlling a$$hole! She’s been wanting to get out for a while but doesn’t quite know how to do it.

Erica has an awesome best friend Maxine, and they decide to attend a concert for their favourite band Atlantica (and creepy boyfriend Van tags along). While at the concert, she locks eyes with lead singer (and secret crush) Ari and all hell breaks loose!

I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say Erica and Ari have fantastic chemistry, with plenty of moments to swoon over. Erica struggles with both her physical and mental health which makes her so easy to relate to. The rest of the band are also very sweet and made this a great modern twist on a classic fairytale.

If you love fairytale reimaginings with a side of celebrity romance, you should definitely “dive in” to this one 😉

Dawn Of The Druia by Sommer-Lee Deaves

I was so excited to pick up this sequel to Call Of The Sidhe, since I loved that book so much! This did not disappoint!

Picking up where the last book left off, Brynn finds herself held prisoner by the Merrow, subjected to all kinds of torture and violence. Their sinister plans for her left me feeling sick and heartbroken.

Meanwhile Tate is totally lost as to where Brynn has gone, and sets out in search to find her and rescue her. There is nothing that will stop him from rescuing his Vicious Bon!

The Celtic inspired world and story contains lots of magic, danger, shocking twists and politics. If you love a romantasy with a swoony MMC, a powerful FMC, fae folklore and found family, you won’t be able to put this one down (just remember to read book 1 first!)
