Advice

The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to STAY INFORMED about predicted and continuing inland widespread flooding on the Paroo River:

- Low-lying roads
- Unsealed access roads
- Isolated homesteads and stations

You should stay informed by monitoring warnings issued by NSW SES on their website and page, listening to your local ABC radio station, and checking the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

What are we expecting?
Floodwater is currently impacting low-lying roads and access routes across parts of the Far West.

Several roads are closed or remain impassable due to floodwater and damage in sections of the road surface. Conditions may change quickly and additional closures may occur without notice.

Access to some rural properties and remote communities is currently restricted, with a number of locations experiencing isolation where alternate routes are not available.

📢 Resupply operations continue as access slowly improves in parts of the Far West.

NSW SES continues to coordinate resupply missions to isolated properties across the Far Western Zone as overland flooding impacts remain across the region.

While some roads are now reopening with caution and a number of residents are beginning to resupply themselves, many properties remain isolated due to floodwater across access roads and surrounding crossings.

Aviation assets have played a critical role in supporting isolated residents and delivering essential supplies during this event.
As access gradually improves in some areas, some aviation resources and supporting crews will begin demobilising from the region in the coming days as response operations begin to scale down.

NSW SES will continue to monitor conditions and coordinate support to isolated communities where it is still required.

If you remain isolated and require essential resupply or assistance, contact NSW SES on 132 500 📞

⚠️ Drivers ignoring road closures on the Barrier Highway near Wilcannia ⚠️

Don’t let a moment of impulse lead to a lifetime of regret.

NSW SES and partner agencies are continuing to see drivers attempting to travel through floodwater and past road closure points on the Barrier Highway near Wilcannia.

Road closures are in place for a reason. Floodwater across roads can hide damage to the road surface, strong currents, deep holes, and debris. Even shallow water can stall a vehicle or sweep it off the road.

Driving around road closure signs or through floodwater puts your life and the lives of emergency services at risk.

If the road is closed, do not drive around the barriers. Turn around and find an alternative route.

Remember:
• Never drive through floodwater
• Obey all road closure signs
• Check road conditions before travelling
• Delay travel if conditions are unsafe

Road conditions can change quickly during flooding, particularly on highways and surrounding access roads in the Far West.

For the latest road information visit Live Live Traffic NSW or follow updates from NSW SES.

If it’s flooded, forget it.

💛 RESUPPLY UPDATE FOR OUR COMMUNITY 💛

NSW SES is continuing resupply operations to support towns, villages and isolated properties affected by flooding. Our teams are working hard to make sure essential food, goods and medicines reach those who need them.

🛥️ Flood boats
🚙 High‑clearance vehicles
🚁 Aircraft for areas we can’t reach by road or boat

An SES member will then contact you directly to advise which supplier to order from based on your local arrangements.

You’ll also be told where the staging or collection point is for your community. When collecting items, please follow directions from SES crews and keep well clear of any aircraft or loading zones.
