What a wonderful day it was! Yesterday a sizeable team of enthusiastic Landcare Broken Hill volunteers, together with some welcome new recruits, were AMAZING. Our Saltbush Maze at Imperial Lakes Nature Park is taking shape. The Maze team dug and trimmed, hedging the existing Old Man Saltbush rows and planting new seedlings in the gaps and along the new hedge lines. Other team members laid poly tubes with drippers to ensure watering succeeds. If you too wish to be AMAZING, then join our team! Healthy fun in the great outdoors.

Good Afternoon Members.

Landcare is putting out a call for help to any member that has a hedger/trimmer and is able to come to Imperial Lake Nature Park to trim/hedge the Saltbush maze this Saturday morning between 9am and 12noon. There is one area that needs to be attended to before it grows too much more out of the shape to form the Maze.

There will be homemade scones, jam and cream with tea or coffee on offer for morning tea.

If you are able to help, even for an hour, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Registering your intent would be appreciated either to this email [email protected]

Looking to be part of something extraordinary? Take a look at this job on offer!

Landcare Broken Hill is on the lookout for a Local Landcare Coordinator.

This is not a standard coordinator role.

It’s a chance to help shape one of regional Australia’s most ambitious community-led environmental transformation projects—right here in the outback city of Broken Hill.

At the centre of this work is the emerging Imperial Lakes Nature Park—a 145 acre former reservoir being transformed into a living, breathing landscape for conservation, education, culture, recreation, and innovation.

From bush trails and biodiversity sanctuaries to a native plant nursery, eco-education spaces, and a future sustainability expo hub, this is a project built by the community, for the community—with national significance and real on-the-ground impact.

Seen here on the Park's hilltop lookout are Jeremy Kirkwood, Chair, Meredith Campion, director, Michael Harvey, CFO & Company Secretary, and Paul Cholakos, director. Tom Revy, Managing Director, not in this picture, was making his third visit. Simon Molesworth, Landcare Broken Hill's President, reports that the visitors were extremely impressed to see how well the creation of the Nature Park is progressing
