Our spidey senses are tingling...🤭⛈️

A strong cold front is set to sweep across the South West of the state from Friday night into Saturday, bringing widespread showers, gusty winds, possible thunderstorms, and small hail in some areas. There’s even a chance of snow flurries at highest peak of Stirling ranges. Those in the Perth metro can expect a wet and windy Saturday with showers hanging around throughout the day.

Time to be the friendly neighbourhood hero and secure those loose items before your outdoor gear decides to do its own web-slinging across to the neighbours’ yard.

Heading out? Slow down on wet roads, leave extra space between you and the car in front and never drive through flooded roads. If you're planning to hit the coast, expect rough conditions and think twice before heading into the water.

With weather like this, your best move might be to stay indoors with your favourite superhero movie 🕷️

Our crews are battling large bushfires right across the Kimberley! 😲🔥

Some of these are deliberately lit, placing unnecessary pressure on firefighters, land managers and emergency services, while putting communities, infrastructure and Country at risk.

To stop these fires from spreading further, crews often carry out backburning, a firefighting tactic to burn vegetation ahead of an approaching fire to remove fuel and slow its spread.

It might look unusual if you're travelling through the region, but it's critical to bring large bushfires under control to protect lives and property.

If you're travelling through the Kimberley, you can also help reduce the risk of bushfires:

🚬 Never throw cigarette butts from your vehicle.
⛺ Check wind conditions and fire restrictions before lighting a campfire.
🔥 Always make sure your campfire is completely extinguished before leaving.
🌿 If you're living in the region, keep long grass and rubbish clear around your property.
📱 Download the Emergency WA app to stay informed with the latest incidents and warnings wherever you are.

If you see suspicious fire activity, report it immediately to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. If you see a fire or your life is in danger, call Triple Zero (000).
