🚒 **WELCOME ALEX!**

The Shires of Bruce Rock, Merredin and Narembeen are pleased to welcome Alex Wilson as our new Community Emergency Services Manager (CESM), commencing 29 September 2026.

Alex will work closely with our local communities, volunteer bushfire brigades, DFES and the three Shires to strengthen emergency preparedness and support our dedicated volunteers.

🏃‍♀️ THUNDER VS LIGHTNING! ⚡🌩️

It’s Athletics Carnival day at the Bruce Rock Recreation Centre, with Thunder and Lightning going head-to-head! 🏅

The oval is looking absolutely incredible and ready for a huge day of running, jumping, throwing and plenty of faction spirit!

A big thank you to Damien, Terry and our Parks & Gardens crew for all their hard work getting the oval ready for today. Just look at how green those grounds are! 🌱👏

📚 A Little Patience Please – Our New Library System Is Being Installed! 📚

We will be installing our new library management system tomorrow (Wednesday 2/9), which will make things easier and more efficient for our library and our customers once everything is up and running.

During the installation period, you may experience some delays with licensing and shire services.

We kindly ask our customers to please be patient with our staff while we work through the changeover. Our team is doing their best to keep services running as smoothly as possible. 😊

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we introduce the new system. We’re looking forward to providing an improved library service to our community! 💙📖

🚧 WE'RE HIRING – CIVIL WORKS PLANT OPERATOR 🚧

The Shire of Bruce Rock is looking for an enthusiastic and suitably skilled Civil Works Plant Operator to join our team!

This is a great opportunity to become part of our Civil Works Crew and play an important role in maintaining and improving our local road network and civil infrastructure. 👷‍♂️🚜

The role includes:
🔹 Operating a range of heavy plant and equipment, including trucks, loaders, rollers, excavators and the Shire's multipatcher
🔹 Road construction, gravel re-sheeting and pavement rehabilitation
🔹 Drainage and roadside maintenance
🔹 Working in accordance with approved Traffic Management Plans
🔹 Maintaining plant logbooks, work records and timesheets
🔹 Supporting a strong workplace health and safety culture
🔹 Working collaboratively with the Civil Works Crew and other Shire teams

What we offer:
✅ Permanent position following successful completion of a 3-month probation period
✅ Conditions in accordance with the Municipal Employees (Western Australia) Award
✅ Level 3–4, depending on experience
✅ 12% superannuation on commencement, plus employee contributions matched by the Shire up to 5%
✅ One rostered day off per fortnight

🚧 ROAD UPDATE – OLD BEVERLEY ROAD🚧

Old Beverley Road has now reopened to traffic following the completion of earthworks.

⚠️ Speed restrictions are currently in place, and motorists are asked to reduce their speed and travel with caution through the affected area.

Please follow all temporary signage and drive to the conditions while travelling along the road.

The Shire thanks motorists and the community for their patience and cooperation while these works were undertaken.
