This is as close as you ever want to get to losing it all….

Just before 4:30 am this morning, station 245 were called to reports of a range hood fire within a residence in Budgewoi.
The occupants awoke to a popping sound closely followed by a smoke alarm. They found the house filling with smoke originating from the kitchen. Luckily, the residence had a powder fire extinguisher on hand. After extinguishing, they evacuated the house and awaited our arrival.

Yesterday at open day, we had a kitchen fire simulator and spoke of the importance of fire blankets and extinguishers in your home.
This was the best $20 investment this homeowner has made. $30 at Bunnings will get you a blanket and extinguisher combo; please invest and have them in your home.

At 1:46am this morning, Monday 19th January, Pumper and Tanker 245 responded to a house reportedly well alight in Buff Point.
Upon arrival crews found the home completely engulfed and got to work with crews in BA to stop the spread to neighbouring properties.

Along with crews from 292, 470, 434 and 351’s Ariel Appliance, the fire was contained and extinguished.

There will be smoke issuing from the site for some time and we would like neighbouring properties to keep doors and windows closed.
If you see smoke, do not be alarmed but any active fire please call 000.
