Today, 245 and the Budgewoi community, thank you for 26 years of service.

From bushfire deployments, flood deployments, 10th alarm structure fires and teaching newbies how to drive a manual truck…… it’s been a wild ride.

We thank you for your bravery, leadership, courage and camaraderie.
You rush toward danger, when others take a step back and step up, when others step down and have spent years dedicating your time to protect lives, homes and the broader community.
Your extensive knowledge and skills will continue to be passed on.

The station hasn’t been the same without you.

But, this is not the end of your 245 journey.
We will continue to stand beside you, and you will forever be a friend and part of the 245 family.

So today, we officially bid farewell and congratulations to John, as his helmet gets hung up, for one last time.

Wednesday 10th June was Thank A First Responder Day….. and boy did we feel the love ♥️
Budgewoi Fire and Rescue were lucky enough to join the NSW Police, VRA and Ambulance NSW at Lake Munmorah Public School.
We were given royal treatment!
Served breakfast, high 5’s galore, hugs all round, an amazing assembly speech from students, the choir sang us a beautiful song, then we got to do the fun stuff showing the kids our truck!
We were gifted enough treats to raise a sugar high for the whole station (a few times over) and literally 100 hand written thank you cards.
I hope all of the students know how much we appreciate and love the support you have shown 🫶🏼

What an amazing community we live in!!

Just before 4:30am Budgewoi’s pumper was called to respond along side 470 Toukley and 434 Hamlyn Terrace, to a house fire at Canton Beach.
Crews arrived to find the house fully involved with flames issuing, compromising the structural integrity.
Using a defensive attack, crews quickly gained control and extinguished the fire without it spreading to neighbouring properties.

This is as close as you ever want to get to losing it all….

Just before 4:30 am this morning, station 245 were called to reports of a range hood fire within a residence in Budgewoi.
The occupants awoke to a popping sound closely followed by a smoke alarm. They found the house filling with smoke originating from the kitchen. Luckily, the residence had a powder fire extinguisher on hand. After extinguishing, they evacuated the house and awaited our arrival.

Yesterday at open day, we had a kitchen fire simulator and spoke of the importance of fire blankets and extinguishers in your home.
This was the best $20 investment this homeowner has made. $30 at Bunnings will get you a blanket and extinguisher combo; please invest and have them in your home.
