Yesterday this intrepid band of cadets made the trip to Lake Leschenaultia for a day of challenges and friendly competition. We started off with some mountain biking and some thoroughly sore legs and 2 flat tyres. Then some Orienteering around the lake.
After a hearty protein based bbq lunch we hit the beach.
Started out with rakehoe stretchers then into the water with some swimmer rescues. Once recovered the boys had some kayak races, battles, capsizing, slightly sinking.
We made a search area in the shallows and had cadets sweep the area for UneXploded Ordinance (UXOs) with there feet and goggles.
We finished off with an epic match of pushball. Think rugby with a giant yoga ball.
All including this cadet leader were thoroughly knackered and ready for bed by the end of the day but for anyone who hadnt had much of a school holiday excursion it was well worth it..

Last night we took a road trip 🚙🚗 to the beating heart of DFES, the command cente in Cockburn. A quick drive by McDermott Aviation to see the Helitaks sleeping then on to CommCen. The night shift welcomed us in and showed us the process of receieving a 000 call and then dispatching appliances to incident. It was very interesting and quite impressive to see. Thank you for hosting is. 🚨🚒🚨

What a great start we had last night. 6 returning cadets and we welcomed Alex and Jaxon who came and tried us out. Our first session for the year was an introduction to "Ross" our 12.2 water truck. It was our task to step up and ready ourselves for the unlikley event of
1. A zombie apocalypse wiped out all the adult members of the brigade.

2. There was a need for helitacs to fill with water from our mobile water source during night operations.
(Remember i said unlikley).

So we deployed our collar tank and once filled, a helitac (the red ground pump) swooped in and pumped the water back into the truck...definitely a job requiring many many cadets to get it done.

Mums, Dads, Cadets. We are back. This Tuesday 630pm. Kicking off with the age old question in a Zombie Apocalypse 🧟‍♂️ what would you do?. We are going to step up and and step in where the grown ups would normally be. Making friends with the 12.2 🚒 and supporting our angels in the sky 🚁. Confused? Well youll have to come along and see...👀

Chittering wildlife carers came with some extra friends to talk to us about the damage to wildlife that bush fires do and what we can do to aid the recovery of our natives. I think the boys were pretty happy with their new friends..
