art of Bunbury! Feed the parrots in our free flight aviaries, pat the farm animals and get close to an aussie icons such as Kangaroos, Dingoes and Quokkas. Join our Interactive Keeper Talks and learn about our animals from the people who know them best. Get up close with a variety of species and ask all of your questions. If you're lucky you might even get to pat a python, cuddle a baby animal or walk a ferret. We have over 260 varieties of birds, reptiles, mammals, amphibians, marsupials and farm animals so you're sure to find a favourite when you visit. Grab a souvenir or a snack from our Gift Shop. You'll find giftware from local artists, plush toys, Australiana souvenirs, clothing, hats, toys and more. The Wildlife Park is adjacent to a fabulous, accessible children’s playground and the Big Swamp Wetlands. So once you've met all the animals, take the kids for a play on the playground before exploring the wetlands via the numerous board walks.

💜💚 Two peas in a pod 💚💜

Check out these two adorable Purple-crowned Lorikeets soaking up the afternoon sunshine! 🌞

Did you know these colourful little characters are native to our South West region? In fact, the Purple-crowned Lorikeet is the only lorikeet species native to Western Australia. They’re also one of our smaller lorikeets, weighing in at just 40–50 grams!🥹

These tiny birds are often on the move, following the flowering of eucalypts in search of their favourite foods, particularly nectar and pollen. When the gum trees are blooming, you may spot them high in the canopy busily feeding among the blossoms. 🌿🌸

Purple-crowned Lorikeets are also known for forming close pairs, so these two seem to have found themselves the perfect afternoon companion.

On Wednesdays, we wear… feathers 😉

These three Tawny Frogmouths at Bunbury Wildlife Park are giving serious Mean Girls energy.

The side-eye. The attitude. The unmistakable “we’re definitely talking about you” look. 😂

But don’t let the looks fool you. They’re actually much friendlier than they appear!

Just three feathered friends soaking up the sunshine and looking fabulous while they’re at it 🦉

Curious by Nature 🧐

If there's something new to investigate, chances are a Black Cockatoo will be first in line.

This young Red-tailed Black Cockatoo loves exploring, playing and interacting with his keepers. Like all young animals, play is about much more than having fun. It's how they build confidence, develop coordination and learn the skills they'll use throughout life.

In the wild, Red-tailed Black Cockatoos are highly social birds. Whether they're foraging, exploring or simply spending time together in the treetops, there's always something to discover.

Watching these natural behaviours unfold is one of the many joys of caring for this incredible species.

Who wants to dance with Nicky? 💃🦜

At 56 years young, Nicky the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo still knows how to have a good time!

Although Nicky doesn't fly, she loves spending time with her keepers and often chooses to hop onto their shoes for a little stroll around her aviary. Every interaction is entirely her choice, deciding to hop on and off whenever she likes.

One of her favourite activities? Dancing! 🎶

During your next visit, keep an eye out as you might just find yourself sharing a dance with Nicky through the aviary mesh.

Building trust through positive choice-based interactions helps us provide the very best welfare for the animals in our care, and Nicky certainly keeps us smiling every day.

Have you spotted our new feed stations popping up around the macropod enclosures during your recent visit to the Park?

Meet Koolang, one of our male brush-tailed wallabies, who seems to be a big fan of the new setup! 🦘

These new pellet feeders have been introduced as part of some additional measures we're taking to help protect our animals from the risk of avian influenza (bird flu).

The feeders are designed to make it harder for pigeons and other wild birds to access the food intended for our wallabies and kangaroos. By reducing the amount of food available to wild birds, we're also helping to reduce the number of birds congregating around the Park.

It's just one of the ways our team is working behind the scenes to keep our animals safe and healthy. 💚

And judging by Koolang's reaction, we think he's pretty happy with his new dining station! 🥹

Fresh home, happy bird! 🪵✨

Pierot the Caique couldn't wait to investigate after recently receiving a fresh layer of woodchips during his regular enclosure clean.

Changing substrate doesn't just help keep enclosures clean and healthy, it also provides exciting new enrichment. New smells, textures and places to explore encourage natural curiosity and keep intelligent birds like Pierot mentally stimulated.

Sometimes a fresh room makeover is just as exciting for birds as it is for us! 😄

Did you know male and female Red-tailed Black Cockatoos don't always look the same? 🖤❤️

Female Red-tailed Black Cockatoos have beautiful yellow spotting and orange-red barring on their tails, while mature males develop glossy black feathers with striking bright red tail panels.

Here's the really interesting part... young males actually start life looking much like the females! It can take five to six years before they develop their stunning adult colours.

On your next visit, make sure to stop by our Red-tailed Black Cockatoo enclosure to say hello and admire their incredible colours and markings up close.

🌿 Got a tree that needs a trim? Your cuttings could make an animal’s day! 💚

Before you send those branches to the green waste, consider donating them to Bunbury Wildlife Park!

We’re looking for fresh, chemical-free branches and native foliage to help keep our furry and feathered residents happy, active and engaged.

We’re especially looking for:

🌿 Acacia / Wattle
🌿 Grevillea
🌿 Eucalyptus
🌿 Woolly Bush
🌿 Peppermint Tree

Branches should ideally be at least 1m long and 30mm in diameter or larger.

Your tree cuttings can be used to:
🐾 Encourage natural behaviours like foraging, browsing, climbing and nesting
🌿 Provide enrichment and entertainment
🍃 Supplement the diets of some of our animals
🏡 Help create more natural, stimulating enclosures

🚫 Important: All branches must be free from pesticides, herbicides and chemical sprays.

📧 If you have suitable cuttings to donate, please email [email protected] before dropping them off so we can confirm they’re suitable.

Donations can be dropped off at the Park during opening hours, 10am–4pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Please note that we’re unable to collect branches from your home or workplace.

So next time you’re pruning, think twice before throwing those branches away. They could be a favourite snack, climbing spot or enrichment treat for one of our animals! 🐾💚

Walk-in aviaries reopening at Bunbury Wildlife Park 🦜

Good news for our visitors, Bunbury Wildlife Park’s walk-in aviaries are reopening from today.

Following our earlier precautionary closure in response to the H5 bird flu situation in WA, we’re pleased to welcome visitors back into the walk-in aviaries. There has been no detection of avian influenza at the park, and our region is not currently considered a high-risk area.

We want to acknowledge that this remains an evolving situation. The health and welfare of the animals in our care is our priority, so we may need to reintroduce precautionary measures (including closing the aviaries again) if circumstances change.

We appreciate our community’s understanding and flexibility 💚

Please note, feed bags remain unavailable for now. This is a continued precaution to help minimise attracting wild birds into the park.

If you see sick or dead birds or marine mammals, please avoid handling them, take photos or video, note the location, and report to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888. Please also keep pets away from wildlife.
