Thanks for having us South Bunbury Education Support Centre 🀩

Last week, Seana and her friends from Aqwest visited several of our classrooms for some engaging and informative water education incursions.

Students learnt about the importance of water, how we use it every day, and we all picked up some fantastic water-saving tips along the way.

We love Aqwest’s commitment to inclusivity and the way they adapt each session to suit the unique learning needs of every class.

By embracing our school motto, Learn, Grow and Belong, they create meaningful learning experiences that connect with and support all students.

Thank you, Aqwest for another wonderful visit and we look forward to seeing you again next year! πŸ’§πŸ’™πŸ’›

Vale Tresslyn Smith πŸ•Š

Today, we join the Bunbury community in mourning the passing of our much loved Deputy Chairperson, Tresslyn Smith.

Since joining the Aqwest Board in 2018, Tresslyn provided dedicated leadership and thoughtful guidance, serving as Deputy Chairperson and as a valued member of the Audit & Risk Committee.

Tresslyn's passion for public service centred on ensuring the Bunbury community had access to high-quality drinking water at a reasonable cost, while protecting water resources for future generations. She was a strong advocate for maintaining a locally managed water service, championed water conservation initiatives and recognised the importance of securing long-term water supplies. Tresslyn also placed a high priority on raising awareness of environmental factors, including the impacts of climate change on rainfall patterns and rising sea levels.

Beyond Aqwest, Tresslyn's commitment to serving others touched countless organisations and community groups throughout the South West. Her wisdom, kindness and unwavering dedication made a lasting impact on our organisation and the wider community.

Our thoughts are with Tresslyn's family, friends and loved ones at this difficult time. We also remember her late husband, David Smith OAM, a former Aqwest Board Director and dedicated community leader, who passed away earlier this year. Their combined contribution to Aqwest and the Bunbury community leaves a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten.

We are grateful for Tresslyn's service and honoured to have called her a colleague and friend πŸ’™

Aqwest CEO Gary Hallsworth and Board Director Kate Baker were in Perth Tuesday for the WAter GTE Forum meeting, connecting with fellow CEOs and Board members from Busselton Water and Water Corporation.

The forum is a chance for the state’s water utilities to come together and talk through the challenges and priorities facing the sector, from planning for growth to keeping supply secure and sustainable for communities across WA.

Water Corporation hosted us for a tour of the Alkimos Desalination Plant, currently under construction and set to add 50GL to Perth’s integrated water supply scheme once complete.

Thank you Water Corporation for hosting us and providing such an informative day. πŸ’§
