SOUTH WEST SURVEY / Holmes ร Court Gallery
Part of the South West Biennial, the Survey offers a snapshot of contemporary regional practice from artists living and working across south western regions. The collection responds to the physical and cultural landscapes of regional Western Australia, a place as diverse as the artists and works produced here. Some works attend to material and process, others to image, story or memory. Some emerge from daily routines or long-term observation, others from specific sites, events or conditions.
Brought together in one place, the Survey invites works to sit alongside one another, allowing shared concerns and points of friction to surface across materials, environments, and lived experiences. Within the Biennialโs framework of Tracework, attention is given to marks, impressions, and forms of contact: gestures repeated over time, traces of labour, and the ways artists register their surrounds through making.
After closing at BRAG, the Survey travelled north to the Holmes a Court Gallery in West Perth, carrying regional practice into a metropolitan context.
