The Capel Girl Guides received grant funding from South 32 and Capel Bendigo Community Bank, to create mosaics for the Capel Community Garden. The girls enjoyed the opportunity to learn the new skill of mosaics, whilst providing this service to the Community Garden, and are thrilled to invite the wider community to come and see them for the first time. A free brunch will be served during the event.

Today, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across the globe pause to think of one another and celebrate our incredible international Movement.

What is World Thinking Day?
Observed each year on 22 February, World Thinking Day is a time when we reflect on our shared values of friendship, leadership and service. It’s a day to learn about different cultures, strengthen global connections and remember that we are part of something bigger — a worldwide sisterhood of more than 10 million girls and young women.

Each year brings a new theme that encourages Guides to explore important global issues and take meaningful action in their communities. Many Units celebrate with games, cultural activities, fundraising for the World Thinking Day Fund, and earning a special commemorative badge.

Here in WA, we’re proud to stand alongside our sisters around the world — building skills, growing confidence and making a difference.

What a privilege to be recognised in Parliament on 25 Nov 2025 by Ben Small MP and later receive this card.

"Today, I rise to commend two remarkable youth organisations in my electorate, the Bunbury Sea Scouts and the Bunbury Girl Guides, on achieving the truly extraordinary anniversary of 110 years of local operation.

I was priviledged to join Jaysen Miguel, Bunbury Mayor, at their respective halls in Bunbury to celebrate this momentous milestone. Such longevity comes from an unwavering commitment of parents, leaders and volunteers alike over decades upon decades, and we owe them gratitude for the contribution that they've made through time to our local community.

As a former sea scout who said in the United States representing Australian Scouts in 2007, I find the core objectives of those youth organisations - building teamwork, self-reliance, patriotism and citizenship in our community - more relevant today than ever. I congratulate the Bunbury Sea Scouts and the Bunbury Girl Guides on achieving a truly outstanding milestone."
